Final Release of McCain X2 - pronounced "ten two".

https://github.com/MichaelB7/Stockfish/tree/McCain

A lot of changes in this release - fixed some broken add'l features such as using 3 books and Play by Elo . tweaked variety function, )( now ranges from 1 to 15) added a new function called "Jekyll & Hyde", must be used with Variety turned on and it will cause McCain to play bizarrely - there are 15 ranges , with Jekyll & Hyde, and variety set to max (15) it will play bizarrely enough that with no other weakening an under 2000 player may perhaps should beat it. Like many options - a setting near the mid point or lower is prob best for more normal type play , but perhaps with UCI limit strength turned on for weaker players.

As before , you may build a functionally equivalent current-dev-Stockfish with all the bells and whistles (all add'l features, triple book usage, play be Elo etc, including the Jekyll & Hyde features described above by just commenting in ( add # sign print to this line) : VERSION=maverick

The "mate finder" build option is removed from this release. Was not satisfied with any of my attempts to have mate finder do anything more interesting than what current Matefinder by Joe Ellis does, I have , however updated Joe's source to current dev-Stockfish and that source may be found here.

https://github.com/MichaelB7/Stockfish/tree/mate_finder

Exe's will be released in the next day or two as I received them. Will post here when available.

Thanks for the updates Mike! Would really appreciate if someone has a version of the Matefinder engine that will work
with Chessbase using Windows. (Downloaded one recently which installed as a UCI engine but didn't appear in the list
when trying to change engines)

Lyudmil Antonov had a recent update to asmfish within the last 12 hours or so

https://github.com/lantonov/asmFish

Also, as a courtesy to others who may appreciate the version that plays with variety in single core mode, I compiled the latest for all flavors of OS.

https://github.com/MichaelB7/asmFish/tr ... y_binaries

Also for those on macOS - I have enhanced my shell script (csh) "Build" that will build all flavors ( macOS/Linus/Windows) for all type of CPUs (base/pocnt/bmi1/bmi2) for all varieties (asmfish, asm matefinder and asmfish with variety turned on). On the MacPro, it builds all 39 possible combination of exe's in 66 seconds, zips them up by category and moves them to the proper folder. The fasmg on this branch (macOS_build) was compiled for macOS.

Minor update to McCain X2 , to fix some 'Play by Elo/Level" coding errors pointed out by Ferdy. Also includes 2 minor patches from Stockfish. New Release is "X2a"

Will post new exe's as soon I have them. It's the weekend , so I'm not sure one I will have them - but I would say the 24 to 48 hours at the latest and perhaps sooner.

Current X2a source can be obtained here:
