I know we have lots of tests to say that SF March 1st is said 3300 and SF May 1st would be 3350 or so.
I also know a list like Ipman can give us the speed increase of nodes for many processors.
However, I had a friend ask me what would be the rating of different computers. He has Q6600, and an I7 3700. He wanted to know if running SF 10 would the Q6600 be 3000, and the i7 3700 be 3200. He was curious what would be the rating increase if he bought a new AMD Threadripper 2990. Would it be 20, 50, 300 rating point increase?
I was not sure how to answer the question.
Thanks for the help

The only way to answer the question is to play thousands of games on those platforms.
Any other answers are pure speculation. Informed speculation, perhaps. Intelligent interpolation even. But still speculation.

Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

From i7-3770 to Threadripper could be around 200 rating point difference on short TC. 115 wins, 1 loss and 84 draws for Threadripper. This would be lower for longer TC.JManion wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 2:10 am I know we have lots of tests to say that SF March 1st is said 3300 and SF May 1st would be 3350 or so.

check this out, i have stumbled upon this article online: https://thewiredshopper.com/cpu-process ... rchy-list/
gave me a lot of information on different processors to watch for this 2019

I was told doubling the speed of a processor ads 50 Elo.

Re: Computer Processor Rating List?
There was a test by csculie where SF performance in fixed nodes.
Interpreting the graph in general, SF strength is a bell curve. Up to 200 MN/ move, SF strength +50 in double nodes. But then its strength improve like +25 in doubling. Beyond 1 billion nodes per move, may be +15 in doubling. And beyond 100 billion nodes per move, it may be +5. Those are estimations, not tested.( He tested up to 800MN/ move, multicore SMP)
