Yes. It is now an unsigned int8 (before it was signed).

You have an eye for interesting problems. Please keep it up. I guess that I am not the only one who enjoys them.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

I guess some people might be interested in looking at "Honey" when I get around to releasing it. New SF derivative based on SF, Sugar 1.6.1 and McCain with a little bit of corchess thrown in as well. The run below was exceptionally fast . Out of 10 runs using 23 threads using 12 cores (8192M hash), twice it took over 10 seconds , with 14 seconds being the longest, twice it was under 1 second , similar to below and the other 6 runs were about 3 to 4 seconds. Single core/thread (256M hash ) with avg of 1.76M nps, it took 2:41 and 283M searched nodes.

Did a recent patch change Stockfish's maximum depth limit?
Yes. It is now an unsigned int8 (before it was signed).
Unfortunately this change is from 15.5 that is too late to help in the TCEC competition.

I wonder if there are studies that stockfish can solve at depth that is bigger than 128

I tried the following study that stockfish had problems with it in the past but today it has no problem with it
