"EmblaTwo" (nickname on the server) will participate. If all goes well, on my new laptop which is almost twice as fast as my previous computer.

I made too many stupid changes. For instance using only bitboards now. Also removed these movelists. Now debugging gets much harder. For move and position showing only bitboard values.
Don't know if I can get reasonable working version finished in time. Too many awkward bugs encountered lately. Also changed bitboard representation.
But that did not make it faster.

For instance testing if a square is occupied by a piece is now a nuisance. Or getting all white or black pieces. These operations where cheap in previous version. I thought that do and undo had to be implemented fast so that's why I changed the rep. But I think it's slower now.

Maybe best is to undo changes but I am not sure yet. Would be one week tedious editing for nothing ( had to repair many hundreds of small errors, highway to hell, who said that chess programming was fun??)

Start using git, that will offer you a new target for ranting :D

I was already using Git so undoing recent changes is not a problem. Just got crazy of fixing about 200-500 statements because of changes in interfaces.

Hi HG,

I'd like Myrddin to participate this month (and hopefully not disconnect). Myrddin will be logged in, but I may not be home in time to join the tournament. If so, could you do it for me, please?

Thanks!

Something's wrong with this system of play: emblatwo won of spartacus, yet, it has a lower rating and score.

You to have to look the ratings of the opponents, the score is just one factor - it's all automated and tried and true. Also the tournament score shown here is modified. High rated engines automatically get more points (fictitious) to their score to improve pairings. The real final results , would not include those fictitious points. Not sure if HGM plans to publish that or not - but nobody really cares - it's just for fun. MCBrain scored 8.5 out of 9, but is shown with 13.5 point. For pairing purposes, MCBRain had 5 points added at the start of tourney to ensure it would not get paired with an engine that is rated over 1000 points below it.
