There's a quick one for testing, nothing fancy, 64-bit only, no XP support: http://www.crabaware.com/Test/shatsf.zip

Thank you! It works like a charm (under WinBoard + UCI2WB), and beat Tiyaga by 2-0.

Thanx admins for activating my account ..

Thanx mr. Muller and Mar for your grat reactions ..

I downloaded the .exe file ..

But I'm still can't use the engine in WinBoard GUI.

Steps I did were:
1- From File: changed the variant into Shatranj
2- From Engine: loaded a new engine and tick UCI option

But I'm still seeing an error message:
"Variant shatranj not supported by Step ckfish 020719 64"

Can you please explain what I missed ?

Which WinBoard version do you use? You should use the WinBoard-AA package, not the WinBoard 4.8.0 distibution. The AA package uses UCI2WB as adapter for UCI engines, but the 4.8.0 package uses Polyglot. And Polyglot cannot handle variants (other than Chess960), it has no clue they even exist. So this could be a reason for the message you see, that Polyglot tells WinBoard the engine only plays normal Chess.

Nice to hear that it is working fine. Although at the moment it is the strongest Shatranj engine, I do not plan to do official releases for this project because I basically stopped development on it one year ago and its source is still based on Stockfish 8, whereas its successor Fairy-Stockfish is kept up to date with improvements in official Stockfish and despite the overhead for the large amount of variants it is already close in playing strength (less than 100 Elo difference, see https://github.com/ianfab/Fairy-Stockfi ... asurements) to the dedicated fork for Shatranj. Due to the improvements from official SF as well as the variant-specific improvements it should be only a matter of time until it overtakes its predecessor.
