I continue to be pleased with Schooners efforts to under-trade for a positional advantage. It makes for an interesting style.

Schooner has a 83.57% similarity with Xiphos 0.3 when comparing the results on depth=1, thus basically the evaluation function of Schooner is about the same as Xiphos 0.3

The use of the evaluation function was covered in the article "The Xiphos Material Evaluator" here which you should read:

However, I am surprised that the results are similar because there have been so many modifications since then. Among other things, Schooners style is also dependant on the width of the null move search window, and not the evaluator. It costs a few elo but I like the results especially with problem solving. Overall, Schooners similarity is no different than the other engines which you posted previously here:
