The Stockfish binary sent in for TCEC was using a Windows dll ("dynamically linked library") that turned out to have a bug. The bug was somewhat noticed before by CoffeeOne in Stockfish team but it was not realized it was in the dll. Stockfish became unresponsive twice. If it had had three hangs it would have been disqualified, but apparently we were lucky and we can continue to the next round.
This version is playing I believe in a bonus round were the dll has been replaced with an older but correct version of the dll.
