I have feeling, that big RAM is overrated with AB engines. When I tripled hash in testsuite (Arasan) engine was worse! And here SF goes to 70 plies with small hash http://www.fastgm.de/Initial_position1.html. Of course it might be useful in caching tablebases however.

A lot of RAM is useful for infinite analysis.Jouni wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 4:12 pm I have feeling, that big RAM is overrated with AB engines. Ideal RAM for a given TC depends on a variety of factors.

Do you know why the second "RTX 2080" cost $130 more ($1,329-$1,199) ?

Might require a different motherboard to have two physically large GPUs like this but some companies do this kind of pricing just to get more money since you apparently have more to spend. Common in the hosting world.

The stock model has an El Cheapo gpu, the difference is the upgrade costVinvin wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 10:18 amSurely the machine I'd like to get now !MikeB wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 3:48 amDream Machine with 7 man syzygy on SSD,

Often, there is some cheapie GPU included at "no cost" and the first GPU price is the difference between the cheapie GPU and the good one, and the second GPU cost is the full cost (plus markup, of course).

But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

Re: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3 3990X bench Ipman Chess
Hi all,
One question:
for Threadripper 3990X which windows 10 is suggested?
I mean, Windows 10 Pro is OK or do I need to use the Enterprise version?
Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Sandro Necchi
