Post by James Constance » Sun Mar 22, 2020 1:50 pm

Hi

Is there a decent database of human vs computer games from the earlier days of computer chess freely available for download anywhere?

Thanks

James

The SSDF games database has one, if I recall correctly
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

Tony Hedlund has a site for exactly what you are looking for:

Many thanks for that. I should say that the reason I'm looking for one is to play through the games in the book Man vs Machine (Muller & Schaeffer) without manually entering them. It looks like the games in the database on Tony's website go back to 1988, so will not cover the first 120 pages of the book - but it should be useful after that.

Thanks :)

2692 games 1963-2007.

This was on your older Site perhaps?
Something with ...5000nl or so?
No longer exists?

Thanks for that DL-Link.
