I am wondering why talkchess.com is not secured with SSL. Not sure if this is related on why talkchess server is heavily firewalled left and right.
Majority of forum members here are programmers and I consider this site similar to any tech sites discussing computers, A.I. and programming in general, but strangely it is not secured with SSL certs. I have read somewhere that 90% of websites worldwide are already using SSL, but really strange why talkchess is still in plaintext. I am also very worried that my username and password are being sniffed and logged along the way with more than 15 hops from my home up to the server crossing 3 big continents on the planet, just because SSL is not used.
I told my wife that a husband is like a fine wine; he gets better with age. The next day, she locked me in the cellar.

Many people can't access this forum anymore.

IMO we should put it on another server or use another host that the people (computerchess friends)
can access the computerchess forum again.

this situation is not acceptable.

when we founded this forum many years ago we did not do it to ban whole countries .

the best would be to move the discussions for the time talkchess is not accessible to all,
to

https://www.open-chess.org

the forum is international and open to ALL members.

Thanks.

Something I don't get for good, Thorsten:
You and others tell us all the time, they could not access. How, the f...ull interdiction, can you and others keep on telling us so and such and now and then and here and now again, if you can't access?

We can help you Peter.
I think it is easy to make our Forum and all CEGT lists only reachable for people living in Germany - or if you use VPN with a German server.

Thank you, Werner, but I was just kidding, I didn't have any problems to log in at all with my Austrian provider till now.

I just wanted to point out, that the difficulties can't be as big as e.g. Thorsten keeps telling us, if everybody having had some problems for a little while, has found ways to log in again now.
Of course I wouldn't mind, if the servers should be changed, but do you really think that to be the only way to keep off hackers? And would it be fully save by only migrating the forum, if security- settings wouldn't be better there then too?

But using a VPN is not 100% functionality guaranteed.
e.g. You cannot use further continuing links, you end up on the proxy page again.
Diagrams and games (pgn tags) are also not displayed.
(not even the epd lines that are under the diagram would be)
