So let's hope it soon will not be necessary to use VPNs anymore to log in to CCC.
What I wanted to say was, new servers, new names and or new hosts won't change the problems of security by themselves alone, will they?

Nice, some people waited for this moment...
A forum where a big group of members can only access by using vpn changes is not public.peter wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 11:21 pmThank you, Werner, but I was just kidding, I didn't have any problems to log in at all with my Austrian provider till now.
I just wanted to point out, that the difficulties can't be as big as e.g. Thorsten keeps telling us, if everybody having had some problems for a little while, has found ways to log in again now.
Of course I wouldn't mind, if the servers should be changed, but do you really think that to be the only way to keep off hackers? And would it be fully save by only migrating the forum, if security- settings wouldn't be better there then too?
Exactly. The forum we founded to be a public forum for the computerchess community ends here. It is not workable anymore.
It seems to me mclane from Germany has another opinion.mclane wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 9:29 amA forum where a big group of members can only access by using vpn changes is not public.peter wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 11:21 pmThank you, Werner, but I was just kidding, I didn't have any problems to log in at all with my Austrian provider till now.

Others who want to register for the first time have no clue why the area is FORBIDDEN and will not change the vpn or have a chance to register.
Such a forum is not public anymore.
This is completely against the idea to give the computerchess community a place.
A computerchess forum with blocked ips for many foreigners is not public and therefore we should migrate it.
To a place that IS public.
Blocked from the Netherlands too. Tried several ISPs to no avail so suspect region blocking. Acessing the forum with an VPN to the US now.
