Games and standings will be available after every six rounds from the following link:
http://kirill-kryukov.com/chess/discuss ... =7&t=12347

If you install TLCV (Tom's Live Chess Viewer) on your computer, you can watch the games live move by move. You'll also be able to chat to others following the tournament in the chatroom there.

There is also a Livius windows version.
It has live pv boards as a nice addition.

Hi Graham,
thank you very much for those great tournaments. You are putting a lot of work into it and it's worth it!

Standings after Round 6

5.0 - Galjoen 0.40.1 64-bit
4.5 - Betsabe II 1.96
4.0 - Stash 19.2 64-bit
4.0 - Delocto 0.61n 64-bit
3.5 - Detroid 1.0.1 64-bit
3.0 - ECE 20.1 64-bit
3.0 - Drosophila 1.6 64-bit
2.0 - Nawito 1906
2.0 - Jumbo 0.7.0 64-bit
2.0 - FrankWalter 2.4.0 64-bit
1.5 - Raven 1.0 64-bit
1.5 - OliThink 5.6.9 64-bit
this standing ist most interesting and disturbing at once. Galjoin 0.40 64-bit has been a sparring's partner for OliThink 5.6.5 and was about the same strength:

Code: Select all

   # PLAYER : RATING ERROR POINTS PLAYED (%) W D L D(%) CFS(%)
   1 Galjoen 0.40 : 13 14 1038.0 2000 51.9 820 436 744 21.8 97
   2 OliThink 5.6.5 : 0 ---- 962.0 2000 48.1 744 436 820 21.8 ---

White advantage = 9.13 +/- 6.92
Draw rate (equal opponents) = 21.83 % +/- 0.92
In order to verify I am running now a match between Galjoin 0.40 and OliThink 5.6.9 and this looks as expected:

Code: Select all

   # PLAYER : RATING ERROR POINTS PLAYED (%) W D L D(%) CFS(%)
   1 OliThink 5.6.9 : 43 24 374.0 666 56.2 308 132 226 19.8 100
   2 Galjoen 0.40 : 0 ---- 292.0 666 43.8 226 132 308 19.8 ---

White advantage = 5.34 +/- 11.88
Draw rate (equal opponents) = 20.01 % +/- 1.58
OliThink 5.6.9 looks stronger than Galjoen 0.40. I am hoping, it's getting a big turn later ;)

One, perhaps related question:
How do the "3-4-5 piece tablebases" work for each engine? Does ChessGUI adjudicate when 5 or less pieces are on the board?

It's the time control that makes the difference.
I am checking now slower matches and the longer the Time Control, the better Galjoen becomes compared to OliThink. The question is not: It's a strength of Galjoen or a weakness of OliThink?

1. The various tablebases are on a usb stick, and both the GUI and engines (where applicable) have the path to them entered.
2. Yes, 99% of the time the GUI will auto adjudicate..
