Hi Pawel,

like a Gentlemen what you wrote.

Again, without any solution of the problem I can't accept the name "Polish users" in the thread title.

I gave more times an explanation.
I know that is a good chance for people to create the "Bad-English-Quisinsky" attack.
That is not new for me and not really interesting.

I can give helps but I await at first that the name "Polish" will be cancelt!

The big winboard site, the Arena site is running over Hostix.
Perhaps the admin from Hostix can give an important hint or can solve the situation because Andreas is an
professional with a lot of knowledge over many years.

The problem is not my bad English.
The problem is the bad sensitiveness I have to read her more times.

Now I am in waiting position.
I give the willingness to help but I believe a solution is not desired.

Best
Frank

Sorry, but I live in the north of Italy and I can only log in via VPN!
Thanks for the info.

yes, I spent time for ProDeo, why not.
Now I am a trouble-maker?

It seems you have a much bigger problem as I believe at first.
Please solve your private problems with ProDeo, Ed Schröder or whatever without me or try to involve me as reader from TalkChess.

Frank with the big mouth?
4 million computer chess downloads runs over my site ...
A site from a person with a big month, OK thank you again for your second compliment.

Back to the main problem:

A server ...
HOSTIX ... I can speak with Andreas (Admin) from Hostix.
www.hostix.de

That is a professional site.
I am sure different people here will give money for a good place.

I can give you or Sam the mail adress and can send him the information.
Perhaps Andreas Taubert can help.

So, do you think you are able to work with me.
Note: I like to work with professionals, not with amateurs.

Best
Frank
Sorry, you don't understand the difference between moderator, 'pseudo' admin and real administrator, so much about 'amateurs'.
Your posts make you look silly, the one wo is insulting here is you, but you don't even understand this...
Obviously you really are indoctrinated already and miss the tree for the forest.

I find this a bit confusing. You keep saying that your english is so bad and pretending not to understand anything of what is written here, yet if I look at your website http://www.amateurschach.de/main/_about-me.htm your english ain't bad at all?

You are probably misinterpreting or putting too much into it.

People living in Poland are called Poles or Polish people.
There is nothing wrong with this.

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poles.

Günther, I have not time for your jealousy-like messages.
Sorry, but can not build an other opinion if I read you in this thread.

Here is the situation:
There is a problem with some areas (mainly Poland, but other areas are affected as well) not being able to log in directly to TalkChess.
The problem is not resolved.
There are some work arounds for the problem explained in the thread.
There is absolutely, positively no harm whatsoever to leaving the thread because:
1. It is a reminder that the problem is not resolved
2. It contains usable work-around solutions that we can copy/paste and mail to people who want access.

I do not understand why anyone would be annoyed by the thread because it is useful.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

I'm against hosting the forum in the EU because then "someone" would need to take responsibility for GDPR (DSGVO) compliance, and be ready to pay hefty fines. That's theoretically up to 20 million EUR. I don't think that anyone, including you, would want to take that risk.

Also, a forum is about user generated content, which would bring us under fire to implement EU required content upload filters.

The EU is not an option for hosting, it's as simple as that.

Dann,

HGM wrote:
"Sam, as admin, can do more, but in the current situation his technical powers are limited to configuring the forum software. He doesn't have the passwords for access to the server to create or update the forum scripts because of the way we are hosted (by ChessUSA). He is a volunteer for that job, and he cannot be expected to rent a server for TalkChess and pay for that."

...

1.
Without the passwords the situation isn't good, PHP database is most important!
And without to changed important things the forum is sooner or later dead.
To find a solution is in such a case really important.

2.
We can't await that the situation will be better after all what I read to the topic.

3.
Question for yourself:
It is possible for you to freeze the forum if a new forum is ready for take-off?
I think the server from ChessUSA is not the right place after all.

The idea:

1.
To make a backup from PHP database later if possible!

2.
A new forum with a link to this forum in the meantime.

Do you know which PHP version the server used?
Certainly older as 5.6?

Best
Frank

What I can't understand is:
The main-password can give the admin from ChessUSA!
If not possible it's time to find a solution.

I have a feeling that you have no clue what you're talking about regarding GDPR etc.
