Hi,
just loaded Scorpio x64 from 2007 (maybe its version 2.0) with new egbb:
It worked here.
And the new egbb worked too with cylone 3.4 .
I only tested 1 position KBN - K
Anybody has an idea how we can test if the new egbb are working correct?

Yes cyclone 3.4 worked for me too, but only with *one* proc.
With 2 procs it crashes after some seconds.
Kind regards
Bernhard

Kirill Kryukov started a project for collecting testpositions with the requirement that they are only found in reasonable times by engines using tablebases. Unfortunatly the project somehow lost general interest and was forgotten.Werner wrote:Anybody has an idea how we can test if the new egbb are working correct?

1º You can see the files debug (GUI) or log (engine) and see if bitbases are loaded, we'll see something like:Werner wrote:Hi,

321642 <- 1: EgbbProbe 3.2 by Daniel Shawul
323282 <- 1: Loading egbbs ....
323282 <- 1: Egbbs loaded!
2º Edit a position with 5 pieces and analyze the position (better not draw). The value given by bitbases is usually close to +50, the engines normally do not eval a result as this, the value of +50 is by the bitbases.

Hmm. I don't get anything, but "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" from http://cap.connx.com/ ?!
Testing if bit/tablebases are working is very easy, but if they help is extreme difficult task

That's part of the Dann-download, and has been for years. Patience

I guess that in order to use them, you will have to use this DLL file set.
The files are smaller than his previous batch, and so I imagine it is a totally new format.

I have a test position that is 100% foolproof for testing whether an engine is actually using egbbs or not- the problem for you is that it only works for 3 and 4 man egbbs.

Thanks George,
I found a lot of testing position in CCRL forum.
"Testing if bit/tablebases are working is very easy, but if they help is extreme difficult task "
I found out - they work here - only problem is: do they work correct - this is extreme difficult as Jouni said.

It's stunning, that all 5 piece bases are compresses now to 229 MB! Is this the record or are shredderbases still smaller? And what's the difference
between egbbdll.dll and egbbdll32.dll?
