test position (rybka cluster vs houdini 3)

Post by yanquis1972 » Wed Nov 14, 2012 3:06 pm

position & idea taken from a post of by M ANSARI @ http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforu ... ?tid=26018

[D] 1r4k1/5pp1/p2pq3/5p1p/1P2bP2/P5PP/1B2R2K/2Q5 b - - 0 42 [/D]

the simple ...Rc8 is probably winninng, but ...a5!! is a crushing blow.

will post analysis from root when H3 finally finds this on my machine :)

after clearing hash & restarting, H3 was able to find a5 at a much shallower depth --

Sorry, did Houdini (or Hiarcs) play it by themselves?

(It's nice to show the log, but in writing us what happened, it's quicker for some people to grasp).

i'm not exactly sure what you mean, but the log is simply the fresh analysis of each program from the initial position. (HIARCS does have learning enabled [if someone could tell me how to clear learning btw, i'd appreciate it] but it had not seen the position before) so put simply, there was no (intentional, certainly) human interference or settings changes.

on my first run, houdini was up to depth 31 or so before considering a switch to a5, so it may take quite a bit longer to find on most searches.

Ah thanks. So Houdini DID come to a5 by itself.
