Oops - that should be 87.72 + 18.18 = £105.90

Game 12 is a must win for Ding. Another exciting game in a couple of hours.

According to Chessbase Gukesh made 7 mistakes in game 12. Lichess thinks "only" 5. In game 11 Gukesh made 4 mistakes and Ding only one!

Hello:

An hour was not wasted at fifth move! Was it that difficult? Things work better, then. I would say that 16.- ..., Nd7 was the first Gukesh's move that engines did not like, followed by the even worse 18.- ..., Bg6. There was a moment that Gukesh simply blitzed, hoping Ding to flag, which did not happen this time.

Following Graham's tip about 'greyed out' bets, there are two available bookies now on the same betting aggregator site. Here are the fractional odds (English system):

Code: Select all

Gukesh 5/6 4/5
Ding 5/6 10/11
Which translates into the following probabilities:

Code: Select all

Gukesh 1/2 35/68
Ding 1/2 33/68

Code: Select all

Gukesh 50.00% 51.47%
Ding 50.00% 48.53%
For an average of 69/136 ~ 50.74% for Gukesh and 67/136 ~ 49.26% for Ding (close to a coin toss).

Tomorrow is a break day and Ding is going to play the white side in the final game at classical TC. Anything can happen!

Regards from Spain.

From the perspective of entertainment, apart from the odd move taking an hour or so (which is why classical chess is very rarely live on TV), it's been a gripping spectacle!

Yesterday, Ding was weak. Today he played out of his skin.

Quite the story - can't stop turning the pages...

with 2 games to go, both players are expected to go all in to strike a win. it’s more pressure on Gukesh (white) though for game 13.
