there was a promise that version 4.1 will be free for v4 buyers. Will it cover v5 if there will be not v4.1?

Version 4.1 SP will be free for version 4 owners. Version 4.1 MP will be an additional $20.00 if you have already payed for either 4 or 4.1 SP.
Capital punishment would be more effective as a preventive measure if it were administered prior to the crime.

A reasonable selling strategy 8-)

In other words, if you bought Komodo 4 it's as if you bought 4.1

Hello Don,
since you have now fixed the mp bugs, can you make a prediction about when you will release Komodo 4.1 MP? I'm waiting for it to buy Komodo.

No predictions because my schedule is too volatile and it will get thrown in my face.

We expect that it will be soon but there is still a lot of work.

Thanks for the answer.

I forgot to ask you one thing: I'm going to buy a 2 x Xeon 5650 for my job and I will use it with chess engines too. Will Komodo scale well with 12 cores?

We will have to answer that question later. But I will say that scalability to big machines is important to me but no guarantees for the first MP version. I know that this is a challenge for all chess programs.

Yes, as far as I know, more or less, every problems has scaling program when using more than 4 cores. Zappa has good speedups.

BTW, just out of curiosity, what kind of speedups did you have with StarSocrates? If I remember correctly it used several hundreds processors.

To be honest I don't remember it was so long ago. We had a version that played with 1800 processors (all there were available on that particular machine) and it must have been advantageous to use them or else we would have used less.
