Often I visited the forum intending to write a posting regarding this or that and then discovered that there was already a great thread covering my topic in great detail. Losing the winboard forum would be quite a loss ...

I agree, but at a particular moment of it's existence became more as a private club than an open forum hence the situation we are observing now before our eyes....
I was reffering to the programmers section mainly as I didn't visit the other subforums very often. Maybe thats why I didn't notice any 'private-club-athmosphere' there.

My experience with the Winboard forum isn't really nice. I was called a troll and warned to stop spamming just for stating my opinion, so I left.

As I wrote before, the policy of the forum membership has doomed it's own few members who thought that by kicking out whoever they want in our tiny community, they will keep the forum healthy....well,they were wrong :!:
As the Palladin said in the recent released film "Jumper":
There are always consequences :!:

I second that and I hope this time a cloud of democracy to rain over the forum :D

Yes, under a new administration I'd consider going back to WF.

That is really great to hear, if there would be a chance for the Winboard Forum to stay online. My affinity with Winboard as such, as an interface, is not so big but all the technical material and the Progamming sections make it for me personally, even if I don't post or frequent it every day, very valuable forum. I had even considered if it would be possible to host it but with my present account I think the bandwidth would be too low and I know really very little about hosting such a thing. On top of that my good old Philips 107E monitor at the moment is I'm afraid running on its last leg after eight years, so every time I start looking at Tord's sources again or compare prices for one of those beautiful TFT screens they are offering these days, somebody starts "Controlling my Vertical" as it were, like in the Outer Limits TV- series, and I have to shut the monitor off quickly, to cool it and avoid total breakdown across all the x, y, z and t axes. Don't know how long that will work, the cooling down method now still works, but I don't get much programming done :D Not the best equipment to start a new Winboard forum up either.

There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling the transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image; make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to the Outer Limits.

Wael, you are a short fuse, dont play innocent now..I have disagreed with some of the restricitions in the past at the winboard forum, but having a strictly controlled forum has its own benefits.

I happen to agree with you. If that was how Volker chose to run his forum, then that was his business. There was certainly no nonsense there. :P

I have asked for help and requested some obscure engines at CCC and winboard forum. I always got the help from winboard forum, and rarely even got a reply from here. It is true that we have more traffic at CCC but the quality that you got from winboard forum was bar none.
