You sound very certain that this is Critters fault.
How possible is it that instead another file unrelated to Critter might carry the virus?
Hi Martin,
Actually I am not completely sure...BUT it IS the 2nd time this happened on a day that downloaded critter (1st time was version 0.70) and again the 2nd time that virus became "active" on my first attempt to analyze with the Critter engine.
Maybe there was a virus linked to the scourge website that day? I don't know. But that is too much of a coincidence for me to take another chance at it.
Again I am not trying to blame Richard, but I did want him to know. And I am glad that Critter .exe is clean. But again two times in a row is too much of a coincidence for me.
I am actually really disappointed because Critter sounds Like a great and interesting engine!! I was really looking forward to analyzing with it.

I don't think it is a false positive because the computer becomes inoperable. I can not access anything because it tells me most files are corrupted.
Tom,this sounds like a worm infection to me....
Can you please go to the ESET online scanner and make an online scan

I have already erased my hard disk and restored the system. So the worm would be gone right?
Yeap,that will do it....

Here is some advice. get rid of AVG, it is garbage! Spend a bit of money and purchase ESET NOD32, you will never look back.
Between the eset scanner Dr. D linked to and now looking over ESET NOD32 I am convinced! AVG seems to have gotten loose. I am going to make the switch to Eset.
