In the good old days programmers were not allowed to talk to users. Just like football players should only play football. Why did they abolish that.
Because it's good for business. People like to see they're as dumb s themselves, relate more, buy more.

What is the problem in letting people be like it is? If is nothing bad...
I am so glad Skipper has no users or testers. Manipulation with their enthusiasm or disappointment is something I don't like. Of course good developers should be immune to that.

Nothing here is rocket science. The good old days sounds wrong to me in my opinion (you program software but then you do not want to hear what YOUR CUSTOMERS/USERS have to say? That is pathetically dumb, backwards, and illogical). Mark and Larry are running a COMMERCIAL engine. Just like when a celebrity has fans; celebrities need to have respect for their fans because it is the FANS, the people, who support the celebrities. Without the people who support you, you have nothing. I absolutely am disgusted by people who think that there should be no consideration for customers or supporters of a product or business when the only reason something can actually flourish is as a result of the PEOPLE. Do you know how musicians survive, and make money? They listen to their fans, and make the music for the people. I do not think that you understand that. Just like in hockey. The players better listen to the fans (their massive salaries depend on it), just the same as our NHL league, as it is the fans that allow the National Hockey League to actually exist. Without the people there is nothing.

Customers/supporters of Komodo, like myself, are helping to keep Komodo alive. I doubt that there is a lot of money in computer chess, as I remember Mark once commenting to something of that effect, but Komodo is still a COMMERCIAL product.

Ultimately, I simply wanted to run a poll here and ask Mark a few questions in which he professionally responded. He understands what good customer service is. Next time I will just email Mark and Larry as they have always been good people to talk to.

I think that Komodo having fans like this is a fantastic thing for their product, and for Komodo. I believe that some people here really do not get it. I hate the idea that just because I am absolutely excited about the next release it can somehow be a bad thing. Unbelievable.

If you do not want to be bothered then go private or free, and then do whatever you want. The Fire engine is a great example.

It is about respect for the people who support your career, your livelihood, your business, etc,. There is no need to be naming people as dumb. It is unbelievable with some of the comments made here.

The comment "In the good old days programmers were not allowed to talk to users. Just like football players should only play football. Why did they abolish that." is not mine!!!

Of course I support your way of view that you explained in the previous post.

Hello Jose, sorry for the confusion... Hahahahahahaha. The initial comment was Henks of course. But I think that it is time to stop with all of this anyways. :)

Of course not, let's be smart about it, let's call them intelligent, let's praise them, all the while figuring out a way to profit from them. This happens every day, at every turn, and yet, no one has a dumb kid, they must come into this world on their own.

Easter weekend is over.

First the crowd shouted "Hallelujah" and a few days later "Crucify him".

This is how fans treat their idols.

Me too I think there is no need for idols. This does not means I support unnecessary aggressivity against people that has them. I just explain that oneself is valuable as anybody, and can do great things.

It is difficult to me, if not impossible, to get excited because an engine will have 30, 40 points more in Elo rating. That happened 20 or 30 years ago, when going from 1800 to 1900 meant something.
From 3000 to 3040?
cannot care less.
I would be excited if the program will add really great new features in the GUI to get more kick of every game. But this endeavor has not been worked lastly.
Development in that field was stopped with Chessbase GUi and Chessmaster GUI. Nothing better has been produced.

They never listen to good advice of Fernando or Lyudmil. But only little children, drunk men and Skipper tell the truth.
