I fixed it myself, thanks. Error reporting, find the driver online for you, trouble shooting. I have found over the years that most of these supposedly helpful tools that are built into Windows are as useful as tits on a bull.Cumnor wrote:Try this link next time the fix worked for my laptop http://www.thewindowsclub.com/sleep-mod ... indows-8-1

Re: Problems with sleep mode in laptop
Two things that I find can create havoc with sleep mode in Windows are graphics drivers and wake up on LAN in bios. Of course there are many other things that can also screw up a perfectly sleeping windows computer than can decide never to sleep again. Sleep mode is better than hibernation as hibernation can take way too long to start up again. But really for a laptop today the best option is put an SSD and have it simply shutdown. Starting the Windows from scratch on a properly setup and fast SSD is extremely quick and this tends to avoid all kind of junk that can mysteriously pile up over your OS.

Sleep mode obliviously is faster than hibernation but it only takes me a little over 20 seconds to get past my login and onto the desktop from hibernation.M ANSARI wrote:Two things that I find can create havoc with sleep mode in Windows are graphics drivers and wake up on LAN in bios. If I had the $$ I would get SSD, in fact I would get two of them with a RAID 0 configuration. Yes, that would be really fast having an SSD. I see even three of them you get a good scaling but once you hit the fourth it's not worth it for a RAID 0 setup.
