Yep, no contest.
By the way, anyone know whether there is a 6 or 8 Core Intel Laptop around yet ?
They were around a while ago but they silently pulled them as probably no one was buying them. I remember seeing them all around and then POOF no one was selling them. I am going to look around later but I was just looking at some just a while ago, just got up, making breakfast.
You can find the owners of such by going to the local swimming pool. Look for those with bandages across their thighs caused by severe burns. Or look for those madly looking for electrical outlets since their batteries only last for 15 minutes.
I got around this problem by using non-conductive pants/long shorts and utilizing a solar powered battery pack. It's a hit among the upper echelons of society. Right now we're sipping martini's by the pool. Bob, you're welcome to pop by if you want.
So you are talking about a laptop that requires a suitcase to carry it around. And I suppose that would be hopeless up in the Oregon/Washington (state) area where clouds are constant?
As far as swimwear goes, transparent? <yawn>. What about EDIBLE?

Bob, ur not only a professor but a dirty, ole' man!

Intel seems to be the best. Just don't get a laptop which end in "u". These are the ones in most Ultrabooks. IMHO chess engines run about 50% of the speed (click for click) than the non "u" laptops. Also note that the i7 "u" is only a dual core whereas the normal i7 is a quad.

Also make sure your laptop has good cooling as running at 4 threads and beyond can heat it up in seconds. My Toshiba i7 is fast but I cannot do any long term analysis as it heats up to much.

Just sayin'
If you are going to do something, do it RIGHT the first time.

Thanks.
I have a 17" Toshiba Qosimo X75 that's really nice (i7, 32GB ram). I've been running 4 cores at 100% for weeks and it stays pretty cool. Previously ran a single core at 100% for months with no issues.
Stockfish gets ~6M+ nps typically.
The only downside is that the battery life is poor. I keep it plugged in all the time.

The main reason for pulling them out was the overheating problem....
The concept just didn't work....

Your model is made for performance. Mine is a slim line (Satellite) and cooling is good but not for long hours of chess analysis.
