Robert Houdart certainly didn't see it that way. He has said multiple times that the development method of Stockfish is so much better than his that he might have to quit Houdini development.

Perhaps if he had stuck around a little longer he'd have a harder time making that argument because of Komodo's success.

I can profit for Andscacs of some of the ideas of Stockfish (I explained them every time), but only a minority. Most simply does not works on it. Is to be expected. The engines are simply too much different. Sure this also is the case for Komodo.
