Hi,

I don't know the program.
Have to check that.

Could you give me a direct download link.
On the other hand, I will find the program ... no problem.

:-)

Note:
I am using available programs only (no private programs).
Private available = No go for myself.

Hi there,

I found Open Tal 1.1 from 2018.
Based on Rodent.

The current Rodent version will start on my tournament.
I think it make more sense to use 1 Rodent only, maybe with Tal playing style / personalitiy!

Brendan is here the expert, means for Rodent playing styles.

That's indeed the question!
For FCP Tourney-2020 Rodent runs with standard settings.
I need here the opinion by a Rodent expert like Brendan, Tal personality can be an option!

Hi there,

all isn't easy.
To many engines are interesting and completly new for me.

OK, OK ...
I was not up-to-date and I am not Graham Banks... the tournament organizer expert.

I have to change different ideas, sorry for that.

FCP Tourney-2021 will be start around January 01st, 2021 (quit clear).
FCP Qualify Tourney-2021 will be start around December 01st, 2021 (that's new).

I added a lot of new engines and changed my overview:

TOP-Engines sites (my overview):
http://www.amateurschach.de/main/_engines.htm

FCP Toruney-2021 organization, News-01 - News-03 for more information ... the new ideas:
https://www.amateurschach.de/main/_fcp- ... tm#engines

So I have a bit to do from x-mas time 2020 below start of summer 2021 and will have fun!

Best
Frank

Hope the ideas are OK for carldaman, BrendanJNorman & jmartus?

Shortly,

Please read News-01 - News-03 on the detail page.
I added for the qualify tournament 19 engines.

The idea is to added Hakkapeliitta, Spark & Wasp in the field to the new engines.

Three very very strong attacker!
I am sure that Spark will make the last place in that tourney (the endgame is the big problem) but have a good chance to make the first place in "fast won games below 60 moves".

The newer engines will get big trouble in the first gaming phase and I can check the stability from the for me unknown engines during the tournament.

Really more as a fun tournament only.
Maybe more fun with the qualify tourney as one month later with the main tourney.

:-)

Hi there,

Klaus and myself are thinking about more changes for the main tournament configuration.

FCP Tourney-2020
= 50 rounds with 41.000 games and 20 minutes for the game + 5 seconds Fischer for a move / runtime = around 5 months (around 280 games per day), 820 games per round need around 3 days.

... that is the still running tournament, ended in around 1 month!

After around 1.000 - 1.200 games the ratings with so many participate engines are very stable!!
Can be easy see in our Excel files.

*********

We can produced with 1 system only in the same time (5-months) much more quality.

FCP Tourney-2021
= 32 rounds with 26.240 games and 30 minutes for the game + 6 seconds Fischer for a move / runtime = around 5 months (around 185 games per day).
820 games per round (41 participate engines) need around 4.5 days.

With the different that each of the 41 engines have to play 1.280 games (32 rounds x 40 games per round).
I think that is more as enough! Better statistics we can produced with more games, but with the higher time controls we have more quality in the games.

That is the question for us!??
Same conditions to FCP Tourney-2020 or better condition for more quality?

Sure is that we will change from 4-man to 5-man endgame databases.

Could be interesting what other's thinking about it.

Hi there,

in the next two weeks I will work on a new *.html page for engine configurations.
Screens from UCI settings and a table with main settings can be interesting for programmers.
Much more easy to compare the settings from 41 programs + the programs will be play the Qualify tourney.

So programmers can looking and maybe it's more easy to changed own settings if they like.

The url to the _configuration site_ can be see later on the tournament main site.

FCP Tourney-2021 (main site)
https://www.amateurschach.de/main/_fcp-tourney-2021.htm

Later more ... have many ideas to the new _configuration site_ but not sorted for the moment.

Best
Frank

But for the moment is the question to change the conditions (message I wrote for minutes before) more interesting for us.

Hi Frank.

I have no strong feelings for LC0 and I would understand to exclude LC0 if you don't have a GPU to run it (although even the CPU release is probably stronger than a lot of your participants) but "no interest for engines without a programmer" sounds like a very strange reason to exclude LC0.
https://github.com/LeelaChessZero/lc0/g ... ntributors has a long list of contributors as there is a long list of people contributing to Stockfish.

Just my 5 ct, it is your tournament of course.

Hi Andreas,

I am looking here:
http://www.fastgm.de/60min.html

LcO indeed very strong as CPU version.

Honestly:
I don't know that LcO can run on a CPU.
Found the information first time on the rating list system by Andreas Strangmüller after I study his very good work a bit.

I wrote directly a mail to him with different questions for my own understandings and got directly an answere.

I don't like to use graphic cards for computer chess (for me is that more or less comedy).
Not a problem to added a strong grafic card in my systems but I have a problem with it.

Fact is that my own opinion about LcO is highly questionable!
I will give it a chance for my next tournament.
With other words ... I am a human with bad moments only ... but able to learn!

I saw the contributors ...
And I read from persons often ... we don't need the classical chess programs by chess programmers.
What we need is LcO.
LcO have not only strong contributors, LcO have a lot fan boys.

That's a red card for all what the chess programmer do for us so many years and the main reason I block a long time LcO.

My sorry to the people like LcO and the people work on it.
LcO is playing the FCP Tourney-2021 (one of the 32 seeded engines).

It's one of the available chess programs ... not more and not less!
Same for Stockfish, for RubiChess and for all the others ... only one of the available chess programs.

Note:
No person here can win a match vs. one of the FCP Qualify Tourney-2021 engines!

All of the engines are strong enough for 100% of chess players.

Hi Andreas,

ah you have written ...
It's my tournament.

No, no ... it's our tournament!!
I am the slave only and of course I have fun with it.

Have interest to share it and for that reason your opinion is important!

Best
Frank

OK, most interest I have to see how strong Wasp 4.00 can play the tourney and for find out more about playing styles of engines! To make the excel files better, Klaus is working on it.
