I would guess it is something Thorsten has got left over from old days and that he forgot to destroy. As long as he only has it, I doubt anyone would mind.hawkeye wrote:where can chess system tal 3 be downloaded from or is it private?
If it got spread around or was downloadable then whoever 'owns' the rights to CSTal2 might start thinking they were being upstaged. Danger.
Just guessing.

Re: Chris Whittington's Chess System Tal ported to UCI?
So did Chess System Tal ever get ported to UCI? The entire chess world is waiting as CS Tal is a very popular chess program due to it's aggressive attacking style..........AAR

Re: The eternity Chess System Tal
We do enjoy the program don't get me wrong .......but......programs need to be tested and claims as to overall strength verified.....perhaps chess system Tal is stronger than what people have claimed all these years.....then again perhaps not...unless you test...how do you really know?

CSTAL gets out searched by today's chess engines.
One would need to implement the latest search tricks into it.
It's an old program.

Re: The eternity Chess System Tal
On my old laptop CSTAL dos running as emulation in
Does box makes arround 13000 nps.
Cstal2.03 windows version is doing 120.000 nps.
There is a bit board version of CSTAL, let's call it cstal3 64bit
That makes 400.000 nps on the same machine.
Nevertheless the search of CSTAL is from 1999. This means it is outdated for 15 years. That's a long time in computerchess. Much progress has been made in this area.

Re: The eternity Chess System Tal
What needs to happen is ChrisW gets CSTal back and makes it UCI, iOS and Android compatible!
Thanks,
Sean

Chris has retired from work. He stopped Working on anything i guess.Sean Evans wrote:What needs to happen is ChrisW gets CSTal back and makes it UCI, iOS and Android compatible!

He sold CSTAL to others. And these others do not continue it.
It would of course be nice to have CSTAL running as a chess app on iOS or android as uci.
But the owners of CSTAL do not continue it.
I can't change it. I tried year ago.
