Hi Martin,

I have another question about the tournament. I’ve already run and completed one, but now I’d like to continue it—keeping the matches played so far and simply adding the games for a newly added engine, as if that engine had been there from the start. Is that possible? If so, how?

it is. first you need to load the tournament, .tour file either using drag and drop or file/open, look in tournaments/ subfolder
then you click the edit tournament button and add a new engine by double-clicking one from installed engines and click ok

note that advanced editing (adding/removing engines) is only possible in round-robin and gauntlet tournaments

I think we are misunderstanding each other; I can open the completed tournament, and the tournament table and pairings with results are displayed. However, I cannot add an engine and then run those games. I can only create a new tournament, but that starts with the state where no games have been played.

no - it works the way I described:

1) edit tournament button after I loaded existing finished tour, added myrddin 0.96 by double-clicking in the installed engines listbox


2) after I click ok (recomputing schedule and openings can take a while for many games):
(notice myrddin 0.96 has 0 games in the crosstable)
(also notice the tournament always opens paused)


3) after I unpause the tournament and set filter to active

Hi Martin, realy impressive! After testing I can say you created a new reference for engine matches and epd suites, at least from my view. It's a realy joy to work with your GUI. There is no comparative GUI for this two workloads. With Myracle and Chessbase I have all what I ever want. Many Thanks

Ps: for the cherry on the top a swiss tournament option will do this. But I have absolute no idea how hard it will be to do this, if it is possible and it is absolutly not necessary. It's perfect as it is! It's only the idea of a naive user

swiss was asked before I believe, there are two tournament types missing: swiss and knockout,
both would be a bit tricky with advanced tour editing and replays - if you replay a game in swiss or KO, it would invalidate
all the following rounds

I looked at FIDE rules for swiss and it seems incredibly complicated, so the #1 problem would be the pairings (apart from the edits).
there are tricky pairing rules (you cannot play the same opponent) as well as color rules that make it quite complex

technically a Linux port would be way more useful I think (and I already have a private Linux build that at least runs),
but wrestling with the horrible and poorly documented X11 API to make it do what I want the way I want is very boring and annoying...

so the only thing I can promise is progressive (dct huf) jpeg support in the next build to wrap up logo support

myracle won't run on Windows XP, sorry (it's built with VS2022 and it's impossible to target XP anymore)

it may run on Win7+, but I haven't tried as I don't have it installed on any machine. I only tested on Win10 and Win11

I understood that; I just meant what Microsoft will serve up to us in the future—for instance, regarding DLLs.
