Kramnik was commentating that Anand has pressure on Black and a time advantage, and right there and then Anand offers the draw, which Gelfand of course accepts.
Just as I decided to start watching...
It's a draw....I've had a similar position against Bright a couple of days ago and I was playing with black and got the half point
I'll upload the games when I can....

Dr.- based on all the draws we see at the top levels today, ie here as well- it reminds me of the quote from Henrique Mecking:
"Only the young generation of fearless fighters can destroy the Fischer myth. You must not let him impose on you his style, which is like snake poison. The old-fashioned way, heavy with security devices, incessant tiptoeing on shallow waters of draws, offers no hope against Fischer." – Henrique Mecking
Quite appropriate, would you not think?

Absolutely true George....
But I have to blame you for an issue here:
You must have sent this quote to both VA & BG before the begining of their match
_No one can hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you can hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward….

Maybe its a draw objectively speaking (if black plays well) but no harm in white playing on for say 10 more moves to see if Gelfand is accurate given his severe time shortage. Disappointing..
I feel that Anand should have used this chance to test Gelfand psychologically.

You're absolutely right....
I was talking about a perfect cutting-edge chess playing technique from both sides to achieve the draw....
The psychological issue plus the severe time pressure could have got Gelfand off the wagon here but Anand thought otherwise unfortunately....

"28.05.2012 – It has been an underwhelming match, but there can be no peace, as the rules will not allow it. After a very strange game, Anand entered an endgame a pawn up, and precisely when he had an advantage and Gelfand had 15 minutes for 18 moves, they drew! This means that the classical world champion will be decided by rapid games, and possibly blitz".

I was harder in the report.
"Tactics are the bricks and sticks that make up a game, but positional play is the architectural blueprint."

All in all an extremely boring world championship....

So Anand is to be blamed for not being unethical and childish?
Agreed. And chess wants to be an Olympic sport ....
I don't mind draws, the games can still be really interesting.
But can you think of any olympic sports where the athletes can decide to call it a day, early? Or imagine at halftime at the SuperBowl, the teams say "let's stop now, call it a draw". That's what ruins it. They are there to play. I don't remember K vs K agreeing draws as soon as the position looked equal.

But the idea of chess is not to get physical at the end of it and to decide the outcome in that way. (if it was, no GM would continue playing chess after age 30!, if ever)
