I'll stick with my vote for 15......g6.
Hello Graham: Didn't Bc5 runs into Ra5?
The line that concerns me is 15....a5; 16.Bd3, g6; 17.Qg4, a4; 18.Bc5 (instead of Sam's 18.b4) .
18....Ra5 is not feasible in this line.

Move 16

Post by Steve B »

as this particular position has generated so much interest i will let the R30 go the full 24 hours from 9PM last night which means i will post the move by 9PM tonight(about 21 hours from when i write)
if the move was not 15..a5 just let me know and i will change it to 15..g6(if that is the move) and let it ponder from there
Sleep Walking Regards
Steve
the R30 has been stuck on the same move for almost 10 hours now(9PM-6:30 AM)
in fact it has chosen this move after only 1 minute and 44 seconds and has stayed with it
i guess it can change its mind during the next 14 hours but
as today is a Sunday where perhaps more players have time to check in here and take part in the game i have decided to play the move now instead of letting a weekend day waste away

R30 Plays the Prophylactic
16.Rfd1

the plan should be a4. (to keep with the idea of a5)
16...a4 17. Bc5 Ra5
16...a4 17. Bd3 g6 18. Qg4 Ra5
16...a4 17. b4!? this had been analyzed previously by Sam Hamilton and Christopher Conkie .

Certainly one of the best workouts for one of Steve's machines in a while

You play Rf7 in that case. Where is the concern?

Okay - a possible danger for you to consider before you decide on a4.

16.....a4; 17.Bd3, g6; 18.Bxg6+, hg; 19.Qxg6+, Bg7; 20.Bd4 followed by Rd3.

Mr Conkie the big IF Rfd1 was played. Maybe this machine has some tricks under the sleeves.

Maybe we allowed it to think too long.

Now it's time for a4 anyway (see your previous post)

a4 is my vote all the way. It is in for a shock.
