you must be exhausted Charles considering you started at 6:00 am today
i was tired after our game alone but i managed to get some shut eye in while you were playing this game

having said that..
would you like to begin our second game straight away after you finish this one with Thor?

J/K Regards

i have to mention that i am amazed by Thors Sparc module
so far it is holding Telepath to a draw and his module is also undefeated in the dedicated tournament Thor is running against other dedicated computers

sadly..my Sparc however is not nearly as good it seems
when i competed in the dedicated computer tournament in Paris this past May i was lucky to finish second from last and i was using a Sparc module with 4MB for hash tables instead of the more normal 1MB

Astonished Regards

it was 2 a.m. in germany when we agreed to continue later with the game. maybe, as you said, charles was tired too from the london games before.

maybe sparc was lucky. there was a weakness in telepaths position (backwards pawn c6), and the whole game they shuffled arround the pieces to get this weakness
used.

of course sparc could not search as deep as telepath, but 8 or 9 plies were reached while telepath computed 19 or 20, as charles said.

the game can still turn arround of course if it changes into an endgame and telepath outsearches sparc.

what we can see from the games is IMO the different playing style of london and sparc.

we saw the typical knight on the edge moves by sparc. as it seems the program has no malus for bringing the knights on the a or h file.

so there is hope !!

concerning my oldie tournament, it is not strong with opponent participants like your tournament in paris was.

but i decided to bring a chessmachine with the koning program into the competition. so sparc will have at least a tough opponent with the chessmachine512 and maybe the king2.2 or another version number.

The problem with the old the koning versions for disc is, that the discs were copyprotected and the copyprotection (if you want to install them) says: your version run out of date (or message similar like this).

so although you are the owner of the thing, suddenly you cannot install the discs anymore because of this behaviour.

i hope sparc can draw this game. and that we can spread hope for the
dedicated machine community...

i was not really serious about your Sparc being better than mine
only joking
:P

however it should also be remembered that Paris was at much faster time controls of 30 seconds avg per move while these games are 2 minutes per move
i think the Sparc's play improves dramatically at longer controls even more so than other computers..Sparky is not such a good Blitz player and needs the extra time

BTW...the Pgn score for the Telepath v London game does not show the Time Control as your game does
perhaps as moderator you can edit the post and just mention the Time control?
