could probably make it optional to also show for the actual engine that's thinking - but it'd require some extra effort.
certainly doable, will make a note, perhaps in some future build
engine logos - not
arrows - not

build 56 is up:
- win10 menu fix (menu itself not visible on taskbar)
- combo listbox with shadow as it should be
- post-move scores shown in game overview
- clicking a game in game overview window opens corresponding game tab in main window
- best n depths in engine output use bold font now to make it more clear (especially useful in multipv mode)

Re: Myracle GUI
What should be the way to create a Tournament where each engine uses its own book?
I tried by checking the Own Book setting on some bundled Engines and choosing a blank slot in the Book option of the Tournament but it didn't work. The Engine logs "BOOK ENABLED" message when it boots up but it starts thinking on move 1, not using its book.
I had the same issue when trying that on an individual game.

Re: Myracle GUI
yes, that's the correct way to do it - enable OwnBook (assuming it's an UCI engine) and select no book in the GUI, just tried and it works.cjug74 wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2026 4:13 pm What should be the way to create a Tournament where each engine uses its own book?

of course the GUI has no way of knowing if the engine actually uses own book or not - it'll only get bestmove from the engine,
whether is comes from a book or search the GUI has no way of knowing
note that the bundled cheng isn't packaged with a book, so it won't work

Re: Myracle GUI
Thanks for the fine GUI!
Have I only missed it in readme or isn't there a way so far to make engines use starting positions out of .epd- or .pgn- suites like UHO instead of books?

Thanks for the prompt answer! Writing about.pgn-suites I didn't mean as for making books out of, but as for using end- positions of games stored in .pgn in sequential order. Like that you can use such special .pgn- suites, e.g. in CuteChess you can choose one of the two formats (.epd or .pgn) for starting single game pairs of colours changed, from one after another one of the opening- positions stored in such suites, e.g. UHO offer both formats (.pgn and .epd) for that aim too, regards

I meant pgn files to uses as books directly, i.e. load startpos + moves (+shuffle, ideally) and let the engines play from there, unless I misunderstood what you meant by suites - epd testsuites are not supported (such as running an engine on a set of epd positions such as WAC)

Re: Myracle GUI
build 57 is up:
- fixes protover 2 xboard engine startup if engine doesn't send feature done=1 (i.e. Butcher)
- fixes potential crash when playing a game against an engine that fails to start up (thanks to Gabor for report)
- fix: treats potential failure to start a new game as a load error, too
