You can insert UCI engines into the Fritz GUI, but you cannot use Fritz as a UCI engine. The ChessBase native engines are all like that. You can play against other engines via Auto232 adapter (assuming you have two machines and a null modem cable).Karmazen & Oliver wrote:somebody know is is posible create a module on interface UCI with engines fritz ?

Using ChessAssistant, you can play just about anything (including Fritz engines using Auto232, assuming two machines are available).
ChessAssistant connects to:
* Genius 4/5
* Hiarcs 3/4/5/6/7
* MChess Pro 5/6/7
* Rebel 7/8/9/10
* MCS engines
* Winboard engines
* UCI engines
* Fritz engines via Auto232
The ChessBase engines are also no longer the strongest engines (actually Shredder had already displaced them before Rybka and Fruit came along, but Shredder was also available under ChessBase -- maybe it still is -- I am not sure.)

Junior and Fritz still have a strong showing in this list:

I am anxiously awaiting the SSDF data with the new hardware.

Hi !
They are -in this world-three class of protocols used to regulate the relations between various engines & GUIs:
-WB (Winboard by T.Mann);
-UCI (Unified Chess Interface by S.Mayer-Kahlen & R.Huber);
-privates.
WB & UCI are public protocols.The compatibilities between these engines are solved by the Wb2Uci adapter (author-Odd Gunar Malin)-under Windows OS , or by Polyglot (F.Letouzey)-under Linux OS.........
CB is a private protocol.Nobody (
So sorry !

OK. a lot of thanks for the info. in that links you can see that fritz 11 is very stronger UP ¡, on fast games and single versions... I like a lot of single versions...
you say that Shredder is very very stronger. OK I thinking about that, because I can use that ENGINE on a lot of GUIs, ChessAsisstan, ARENA chess, etc..
I am not sure, but I remember that Shredder have options to use only one CPU core.. ( I need the other for other things...
bye. ( the engines are very expensives to have not portability... Shredder can buy on chessbase, I think that the give us a GUI, but the *.exe to do a UCI are in the DVD too, I hope that ¡ )
bye from Spain. Oliver.

BAD for chessbase fritz engines, good for UCI engines support in other GUIñs similar ChessAssistan, ARENA...Sylwy wrote: CB is a private protocol.Nobody (![]()

It seems very clear that Rybka 2.3.2a is the strongest engine on a single CPU right now, though some others are close.Karmazen & Oliver wrote:OK. a lot of thanks for the info. For multiple CPUs, Zappa is close to Rybka.
I do not think that the full exploration of Fritz 11 has been made to know for sure just how strong it is, but the early results seem to be "It is very strong."
The nice thing about these strong chess engines:
Rybka
Zappa (AKA Zap!chess)
Shredder
is that they use well known and published APIs.
If you have a more proprietary engine, the simplest thing to do is usually to import the other engines into the proprietary interface. For some kinds of things it is disappointing, but often it is good enough for practical purposes for most of the things you want to do with chess engines.
I think that the incredible success of the new engines with portable interfaces may put pressure on ChessBase to either adapt to a new and portable interface or at least publish the ChessBase interface. On the other hand, the ChessBase people do not seem very responsive to suggestions. I have made requests of the ChessBase group to perform EPD output on many occasions over the last decade and they do not listen to it. So I vote with my wallet. Although I own an older copy of every ChessBase engine ever made, I do not think I will ever update unless they start to listen to user requests.

Recent Chessbase Shredders do NOT contain a UCI engine.
If you want Shredder UCI: http://www.shredderchess.com/

Re: how create a module UCI with engine Fritz ? only run on
ohhh ¡ thank you for the warning, I will look in the other web, possibly choose the version Deep, if it is possible to create an engine ICU that alone one of the two CORES uses...Mike S. wrote:Recent Chessbase Shredders do NOT contain a UCI engine.

edit: ok... I see :
http://www.shredderchess.com/chess-prog ... 1-uci.html
Deep Shredder 11 UCI is the best Shredder for Windows computers with multiple processors or the new dual core processor. Deep Shredder 11 UCI works also fine on computers with one processor and one core, but cannot develop his full power there and is comparable to Shredder 11 UCI on those machines.
You will also get the latest version of the Shredder user interface and a 64 bit Deep Shredder 11 engine for Windows x64. This is the best Shredder for such 64 bit systems, no matter how many processors you have.
Deep Shredder 11 UCI runs on all Windows PCs
with at least Windows 2000 including Windows Vista.
the other questions is if ONE core CPU is good level too.. I think that yes...

OK, I have previus versions of Gui Fritz,... we can use the previus versions, with other UCI engines..., and don´t buy the new not UCI fritz...Sylwy wrote:Karmazen & Oliver wrote:BAD for chessbase fritz engines, good for UCI engines support in other GUIñs similar ChessAssistan, ARENA...Sylwy wrote: CB is a private protocol.Nobody (![]()

in these time, in this year 2007 ¡?, I can not understand HOW is posible that chessbase, ( that it is not also the engine more stronger ), don´t have UCI options... for HIS engines
