Online Search in Chessbase 9

Post by AdminX »

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that Online search no longer seems to work in Chessbase 9. I have done two different position search and keep getting no games found. Was it disabled to force people to move to Chessbase 10? hmm ...

Example:
[d]3r1rk1/1q2bpp1/3Rpn1p/3p1N2/2p1P3/2P4P/1P3PP1/2BQR1K1 w - - 0 0

PS: This is also a good test position for Chess Engines. (BM: Bxh6!)

Ted,

If anything, my experience has been the opposite. Recently the online search in ChessBase 9 seems to have been improved, presumably in preparation for ChessBase 10.

I can't find your position, though, online or on disk.

I could not locate this one either:

[d]1rb1k2r/3nbppp/p1qpp3/1p4P1/4PP2/P2BBQ2/1PP1N2P/R3K2R w KQkq - 0 1

It is Lordachescu vs. Portisch year 2000, I was able to find it in reference dn however. Just not Online lookup in Chessbase 9.

Ted,

The reason you can't find them is because you haven't set the move numbers correctly:

1rb1k2r/3nbppp/p1qpp3/1p4P1/4PP2/P2BBQ2/1PP1N2P/R3K2R w KQkq - 0 1

should be

1rb1k2r/3nbppp/p1qpp3/1p4P1/4PP2/P2BBQ2/1PP1N2P/R3K2R b KQk - 0 14

Ahh Ha!, Thank you Marek!

It works fine here too ... but to be honest, I don't use it that often anymore. I seem to be looking at more computer games these days ... human play almost seems inferior :P
