Yes, but:
- no support UCI
- no view search
- no FAQ
- no HELP
- set hash? Old ini, or not?
- old own book probably not work with version 5. My try book is here (create with Thinker 5.1D, makebook.exe), but not know parameter => lottery! New version have new file createbook.exe, plies parameter.

For wb2uci.eng I recommended TerminateHard=True (any ProDeo).

My concept wb2uci.eng:
[ENGINE]
Name=Thinker 5.2A/32p
Author=Lance Perkins
Filename=ThinkerUCI.exe

[OPTIONS]
Program=(Passive)Thinker_32-bit.exe hashsize=8
TerminateHard = true
Visible=Ponder,Logfile

Old *.ini file (Thinkerboard, Thinker 4.7a):
[options]
; hash size, 1 = 1MB, 2 = 2MB, 3 = 4MB, 4 = 8MB, 5 = 16MB, 6 = 32MB, 7 = 64MB, 8 = 128MB
hashsize=7

Hi Pavel,
hash set as usual with command: hashsize=9 e.g.

In wb2uci.eng I use:
[OPTIONS]
Program=(Passive)Thinker_64-bit.exe hashsize=9

Hi Werner,

Thinker does not ponder when I use theCB Gui. :(

Am I doing something wrong?

Best wishes,
André

It should be 5.2B (and not 5.2A). The "A" variety was not built correctly.

Sorry for the confusion.

Hi André,
this is no problem if you are testing for CEGT 8-)

We make all games without pondering!

PS: here Thinker does not ponder in Arena and inside Chessbase. I found now way to tell the engine to ponder.

Ponder=true in wb2uci.eng did not help and the command hard inside Arena neihter. Perhaps some other chessfriend can help you ?

hashsize=7
Sorry, but the Thinker engine is xboard only.

The book format is still the same. Makebook.exe is still the program for creating books. CreateBook.exe is just a UI wrapper. It simply calls makebook.exe to eventually create the book.

Even in makebook.exe you can specify the maximum plies. You do something like this:

makebook.exe -80 C:\files\*.pgn

The use of Thinker.INI is no longer supported. This is because there is no INI file support in Windows CE, and I use a common code for the Windows and the Windows CE versions.

The hash size can still be specified through the command-line (e.g., hashsize=10).

Cheers...

You need to tell Arena that Thinker is winboard/xboard engine, and do not use any adapter.

With that, you should be able to make it ponder.

Hi Lance,
does your engine ponder?
If yes - which command is necessary?

Thanks for the new version!!!
