Betsy 6.5.1 by Landon Rabern

Hello,

after embedding of Betsy 6.5.1 for "normal chess" (not the FRC-version) into the Arena-GUI (WinBoard-protocol), and pressing the button "computer´s move" (> Betsy 6.5.1 begins) nothing happens. The engine Betsy 6.5.1 does not calculate, sequences of moves or the valuation of the material (e.g. + 0,46) are not shown. Any other experiences?

What are you using for the command line options? I have my command line options set up in Arena as follows:

-xboard 256 betsy.bk c:\games\chess\tablebases

where 256 is the hash size, betsy.bk is the book file, and c:\games\chess\tablebases is the path to my tablebase folder. I think the options have to be in that order.

Has this been solved? I tried to use it today but it wouldn't move. Is that to do with Windows 10? I tried several command line switches under Arena to no avail. I even created a fake 0-byte book. Tried with own book switched on and off.

Betsy 6.5.1 works perfectly in Arena 3.5.1 GUI & Windows 10 OS !

Problem solved. I had the wrong exe, probably the FRC variant. I replaced it with the one I downloaded from Norbert's collection and it works OK.
