Serious cloning issue at TCEC

Post by AndrewGrant »

I've just tuned into the latest TCEC event and I'm absolutely disgusted, disturbed, and downright offended to see what they are doing. They are playing blatant clones of the same engine against each other.

Pic releated:

No Andrew, I can see your confusion. It's an easy mistake to make. One of the versions is version 'A' and the other is version 'B'.

In your interpretation of copyright law, do you believe the name change from "A" to "B" is a copyrightable work? If not, someone is getting sued big time. Big time.

Hi there,

is the comminity ready with clone-attacks this can be the final result?!

Only one program will be available and we all have enough time to test all the available
versions from the last engine Mohican.

:-)

I'm glad you said that or I wouldn't have known!

All Chess engines are equal! But some are more equal than others.

I like this comment!

From the view of playing style of engines (not from the view of sources) some engines are very equal.
Engines I can't read that it's a clone of another.

A good example I like:
The work by Allard Siemelink (Bright / Spark) and the first Fizbo versions later available.
RANDOM!

Can give many examples!

Today with all the open-sources ...
Not easy to build a rating list or to build a field for an interesting chess tournament with many engines!
