French is played. My book (with many engine games) and my engine know this variant very well. Which engine will Niemann use today to win (I don't mean the question seriously)?
I was watching a US Championship stream just now. There, behind Aronian in the St. Louis Chess Club, was a picture of Maxim Dlugy.

Niemann,Hans Moke - Xiong,Jeffery Line 2.1, USA Championship 2022

The first dubious move of the game was by Xiong on move 12, when he took back with the knight instead of with the queen, which would have been quite equal. The defense chosen for this game is exactly the one I have been advocating for a while now; as far as I can tell, it restores the French to the status of a top-line defense to 1.e4, maybe even the very best defense.
I agree with that. I don't know how well humans can play here. But from an engines perspective, I know that the variant played is the best choice! I have several books that I edit by hand. And of course I also play with it on the servers. White has no chance of beating my engine if I play Qb6 or a6 in the line. It also looks like this in my Engine General CTG book (The book contains only engine games. Moves marked in green, here Qb6 and a6, are tournament moves in the book):

Evidence of OTB cheating? Don't be ridiculous! Carlsen lost and my feelings are hurt. What more evidence do you need?
So as I understand it, in your opinion, honest won the game Niemann with Carsen.
Yes. Until I see some evidence convincing me otherwise beyond a reasonable doubt. Hans cheated online, and lied about the extent of his cheating. That is inexcusable. No excuses. His OTB games are still in a different category, and nobody has demonstrated otherwise.

GM Hans according to Carlsen is cheating, but he played versus Xiong Jeffery who is rated close to him and Xionf Jeffery drew, therefore, both are cheating

Cheating is cheating ... and Hans didn't cheat once or twice like he admitted ... but over 100 x that he got caught cheating. You can probably multiply that by 100x again for the times he did not get caught. On his stream where he got banned for cheating, he immediately said he would go to Lichess where I guess it is easier to cheat. My guess is that he was also a serial cheater on Lichess as well. I don't understand why people see cheating online as different than cheating over the board. There is a tournament, it has money prizes and rating points ... but somehow it is ok ???
Imagine this situation ... a person is an admitted pedophile child rapists in Thailand and he somehow escapes the country and goes to the US. Does that mean that once he is in the US then whatever he did in Thailand doesn't count? Assuming there is no extradition treaty and the logic of many of you here ... the answer would probably be yes. Legally there is nothing that proves he raped children in the US so end of story and since there is no extradition treaty between the two countries ... whatever he did in Thailand stays in Thailand. OK ... so this guy decides he wants to be a kindergarten teacher where your kids go to school. The parents complain that their kids are at risk ... but they are told they are being stupid because there is no proof yet that the person did anything in the US. Of course you mention that a few kids were raped in close proximity to the admitted rapists home and no rapes had occured before he moved there, and you find some clothing of raped kids in his garden, and some other evidence is put up ... but you are told unless you have 99.998% proof it doesn't count ... so put up and shut up!
