I got the idea thanks to your great hint. In fact, one of the starts on my own was this one, searching for a zugzwang without success. After reading your post, I found the idea of white king triangulation on d1-c2-c1 and SF 15 started to see winning evals at around 30 moves from the checkmate. Here is my proposed solution:

Haha, thanks to rj329 and to you!
:)
I was at these first moves too but didn't find the right continuations, have to confess, I did let go rather soon, thinking Hobacle could have been wrong as he happened to be now and then with long DTM- puzzles sooner on too, shame on me
Very fine indeed,.
Hobacle should send this one or one of his other fine works to one of the problemist- journals, you mention Schwalbe,

https://www.dieschwalbe.de/

This one e.g is of very much impact, I'd have an email- adress of the "Kassenwart", but as for YACPDB, it's an online-database "only", I think, puzzles have to have first prints in journals, maybe participating in competitions that are held by e.g. Schwalbe regularly too. Walter Eigenmann, the owner of Glarean magazine publicises first prints often too. Not until then it's registered in databases like YACPDB or Harold van der Heijden's.

I'd say too, puzzles like this new one should appear in refereed journals, regards
Peter.

The solution you found was right. But please don't take it anywhere except here, at least until Hard Puzzle for Christmas is out, thanks.
So you sent it to a journal already too?
If not, don't miss it for too long, or editor of such maybe wouldn't call it first print then, you see?

Have a look here, if you want,

https://glarean-magazin.ch/2009/10/01/m ... e-urdruck/

as you can read, there had been a preprint in Matplus too and yet the study made it into Gerd Josten's book A Study a Piece too later on.
The way, studies get famous aren't dependent on first print only, but juries tend to prefer the brand new ones of course.

You can be sure from me. I only said that it is a great puzzle and more people could try it, but whatever you want is fine. I enjoyed a lot the moment when I was smarter than SF 15 and Chest 5.2, however still using SF 15 for the input of moves to test the idea. :-)

Thank you very much! Waiting for the Hard Puzzle for Christmas.

The solution you found was right. But please don't take it anywhere except here, at least until Hard Puzzle for Christmas is out, thanks.
Thanks for this nice puzzle !!
