Re: Fastest way to find games that match a position in a large database

Hello, I was wondering what would be the best way to find a specific position in a large database (from a FEN for example). I noticed that for example in Chessbase, it is not instant at all when you look for the games that match a specific position. However, they have a statistics that show the per...

Re: Null Move Pruning

Hello! I just downloaded the latest free version of Komodo 12 to try to disable the Null Move Pruning option, so in my mind, I supposed that for depth 2, it will need 20*20= 400 nodes However I arrived to depth 3 with nodes 78 and depth 4 with 193. So I'm wondering what is the role of the Null Move...

Re: Stockfish NNUE speed is improved a lot

GitHub says: On CPUs supporting modern vector instructions (avx2 and similar), the NNUE evaluation results in stronger playing strength, even if the nodes per second computed by the engine is somewhat lower (roughly 60% of nps is typical). I also remember first NNUE versions speed was about 65-70% ...

Re: Has Stockfish NNUE reached it's limit now?

To mesure a progression in engines ELO, first you have to play a lot of games as the differences between versions are near 1 ELO or less. 50000 games would be the minimum to have a good evaluation of progression (or regression). NCM chess dev-builds evaluations plays only 20000 games, and vs a very ...

Re: Samsung S20 FE /Chess GUI/Compiling Help/Question

this is a digitally signed apk good for 50 years ;>) - should be exact same version of droidfish on Google Play (1.84) - but if you would like to help me out and kick the tires, that would be great - obviously, the endgame is to get Honey, Black-Diamond , Oki Maguro and Weakfish up and running on G...

Re: Lc0 with latest test30 nets is vastly superior positionally

A new check with the positional test suite Openings200, included are NNUE engines too. Top places go to NN engines, which haven't appeared yet when I built the test suite in 2016. .... Just for the fun you can check positional tests suites. But in real life game it's diffrent. SFDEV is leading TCEC...

Re: Samsung S20 FE /Chess GUI/Compiling Help/Question

My son's company, is getting me a Samsung S2O FE (Fan Edition) , while I do some part time work for them. Any suggestions on a GUI? I am most interested in running Stockfish and particularly my SF clones (the Honey engines) . What is the best method method to build from source? I am currently livin...

Re: CCRL flawed testing : SF12 above SF12 8CPU

I'm not a fan of CCRL any more, just for that. They mix Multicore results and single core with completely different opponents. No doubt that the results will be necessarely biased ! I only look at CEGT 40/4 and 40/20 tournaments, which is more accurate in ELO calculations on Single and Multicore Eng...

Re: 87% of the poll voted that SF will win Tcec Sufi 19.

You could be right. But SF is a hybrid engine for a reason. If Stockfish can increase its NN size and power with only CPU power. Then yes, Lc0 will have a hard time. But again who is to say. That Lc0 or others engines will not use both CPU, and GPU in the future. Horsepower is Horsepower. If you ge...
