Re: stockfish evaluates knight as more than rook

I talk about evaluation and not about search so I let stockfish to search to depth 1 and here are the results(rooks equal near 4.5 pawns when knights equal near 12 pawns). I wonder if the reason is not using nnue with a big material advantage. rnbqkbnr/pppppppp/8/8/8/8/PPPPPPPP/RNBQKBN1 w Qkq - 0 1...

Re: Are hybrid approaches stronger than pure nnue?

It was nearly 90 elo loss when both SF and Crystal were using classical. I believe the difference should increase a lot in NNUE (I honestly expect more than 200), but I didn't test recent SF NNUE and Crystal yet.

Re: Commercial Release of Ethereal 13.00 (NNUE) for AVX2 Systems

Thanks. Its nice to see that Pure lists are back ( At least for FRC ) . That is what I always looked at back in the day. I'de love to see those for each list, and actually have that be the default. Its simply a greater quality list by removing sampling biases :) Yes agreed. The pure list never went...

Re: Komodo Dragon vs IM Andras Toth knight odds match.

Chess engine authors are way too arrogant when they claim that their program is better than Kasparov or better than Magnus Carlsen because it's obviously just a marketing lie. Kasparov is still at least 200 elo stronger than Komodo dragon 2. Even Komodo Dragon 5 still doesn't stand a chance against...

Re: Have you ever seen so many draw games on TCEC ?

Regarding the title of the thread: computer chess death by draw is coming... I am working since years to prevent the computerchess from draw-death: https://www.sp-cc.de/anti-draw-openings.htm If TCEC dont use this opportunity, it is their fault. Congrats for your work, I LOVE Drawkiller! I hate to ...

Re: Learning

Eman's (and Sugar's) for me. I used learning engines since first they came to Stockfish (There was ShashChess 6.1 first, copied learning code from Kelly's personal project. There was no Brainlearn at that time. Before these engines, earliest engine that uses position learning was Critter as far as I...

Re: Algorithm to determine the difficulty of a chess problem

Analyzing time can be a determining factor here. I would analyze positions with two or more engines. Longer the finding time, better the question.

Re: Fat Fritz 2

It would appear ChessBase came to their senses and are now providing the entirety of the source (including the network) here https://github.com/DanielUranga/Stockfish/tree/ff2 . The FatFritz2 network can be downloaded here: https://github.com/DanielUranga/Stockfish/blob/ff2/src/FatFritz2_v1.bin . F...

Re: Fat Fritz 2

Does the Fat Fritz 2 binary include the network, or is it a separate file? There is no other file they say. Only binary and hidden "inside" net. There are only three non-cosmetic changes to Stockfish in FF2 given the provided source code. https://github.com/DanielUranga/Stockfish/commit/e44edde482a...

Re: Fat Fritz 2

A useless clone, taking advantage of the work of unpaid volunteers that didn't put a price tag for advancing computer chess, trying to get money from people that don't know better. Legal but shady. The scheme only work with deceptive marketing (using SF-dev for their clone, comparing performance to...
