Re: Gary Kasparov 58 Years old is no longer 2812 use your engine

LK No way to call his performance "good" ok, i now see the final results, apparently he collapsed in the 2nd half of the tourn (my comments were based on intermediary results, and as a reaction to the comparison with the Stockfish analysis in a game or two). yet overall he remained on par with Jorda...

Re: Gary Kasparov 58 Years old is no longer 2812 use your engine

considering these young GM's being busy with chess almost all of their time (except Anand maybe), Gary's performance to me actually looks very good. Fun to watch btw, the youtube reports from this Croatian tournament (at least some parts, which i watched, looking at all the stuff is too much for me).

Re: A Stockfish that tries to lose every game of chess

well i wonder if they ever heard of the chess variant
'losing chess' (different because capturing is obligatory,
and it's solved for White, losing after 1.e3). But in
this badfish variant even after 1.e3 it will be
a draw i predict (eg bf vs bf).

Re: Literature (fiction and non-fiction)

well as for non-fiction, there is an enormous amount, obviously. As for fiction/thrillers, etc, there's also a respectable list for example" https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/305.Chess_themed_Fiction Some made it even into a movie, hey ever heard of the Queens Gambit  and rather unknown nove...

Re: Correspondence ICCF Champion Vs Top Engine ?

Monte Carlo wrote "There was one recent test in these forums with some pretty strict restrictions for the unassisted engine, operated by me, against jefk" yes indeed; now i'm not ICCF 'champ' but CCM, but anyway i tried to play a strong game (i think my play was correct, and i showed in early midgam...

Re: Crafty NNUE Chess Engine?

certainly an interesting project (and i'm glad the output -in the dos-box - still is same, or similar layout, meaning i can use it -via pipe.exe- in my old Bookbuilder program) However, the engine is very, very slow on my comp, reaching only 14 ply or so in one minute. Tried Sse2 and SSe3 and such e...

Re: Knowledge Base 1.0

jryandx wrote Chess is solved when we know, for each position, the guaranteed outcome if the best moves are played from that point forward. ok strictly speaking, that's the definition of 'strongly solved' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solved_game However, chess is 'ultraweakly' solved because it's ...

Re: Interesting opening

the move 9.Rb1 is stronger than 9.Ba3?! i think,
and anyway after 9.Ba3 my engine simply plays 9...a5
instead of taking the rook.
Then 8...Bd6 (or e7) is better than 8...Bxc3?!

interesting position maybe, but strange opening play

Re: Knowledge Base 1.0

killing two birds with one message; yep i've combined the knowledge.bin (not bad) and the cerebellum-merged (with lco analysis) into one book. (was still possible <2Gb book) but i'm still puzzled about this polyglot update(s) and i don't see a need for two options coz sofar both options still imho l...
