Re: Koivisto 5.0

Scorpio is only a top 10 engine if it uses a GPU. With CPU only, Scorpio is much weaker. that's completely irrelevant. I'm deeply disgusted with the current state of computer chess, so much hatred and nonsense is really something. especially noting the high number of trolls that hijacked this Koivi...

Hand-crafted evaluation is now more like "Cave Mens evaluation" than "Real Mens evaluation"
really? so how did Scorpio become a top 10 engine out of nowhere, did you find a big idea? :D oh yeah, you don't care about rating lists, right :D

Re: Time to rethink what Vasik Rajlich has done?

I wanted to say that the source code of R1.0b could not possibly have any commercial value since it had been decompiled already in Strelka Strelka (2.0) is not a verbatim decompile of R1.0b though, so it's unknown how much of R1.0b it actually contains. Like I said - Osipov himself claimed he start...

Re: Time to rethink what Vasik Rajlich has done?

I really don't understand why people keep coming back to this. The ICGA clearly thought there was enough circumstantial evidence (decompiling, move similarity, variable names, Strelka, ...) for the claim that Rybka was written by modifying Fruit. In reaching this conclusion they no doubt also took ...

Re: Time to rethink what Vasik Rajlich has done?

...I really don't like being told what I "need to do" in my precious spare time  Straw man argument. You can do what you like in your spare time, and you have freedom of speech - you're allowed to express the view that Vas was innocent of the charge against him. What I am saying is that the I...

Re: Time to rethink what Vasik Rajlich has done?

as for this https://www.chessprogramming.org/images/c/c7/RYBKA_FRUIT_Mar11.pdf eval "evidence" basically the same as Wegners, presented in a wannabe scientific way. time management looks similar but considering it's so simple I wouldn't dare to claim GPL infringement here, ditto (notable is also the...

Re: Time to rethink what Vasik Rajlich has done?

Another piece of evidence (not based on decompiling) was the very high move similarity between Fruit 2.1 and Rybka 1.0b as reported here https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1875952113000177 (I am sure this can also be found by searching old talkchess posts). co-authored by Watkins, o...

Re: Time to rethink what Vasik Rajlich has done?

I always thought that the main smoking gun was Strelka which was based on Fruit and which Vas himself claimed to be a clone of Rybka. yes, but how... Osipov claimed Strelka was based on Fruit, but it obviously contains decompiled part of Rybka (which is probably why Vas claimed it to be mostly a cl...

Re: Time to rethink what Vasik Rajlich has done?

(warning: a very long post coming) looking at this masterpiece https://www.chessprogramming.org/images/a/aa/ZW_Rybka_Fruit.pdf I can't help myself but that's just embarassing for the lack of a better term... starting with PSQ: Wegner dismantles his own evidence first by stating Also, note that here ...
