Re: Perft for 8×8 checkers.

Hello: I have just found that Perft(29) of 8×8 checkers was computed some months ago ( On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences link ) by the author of Nemesis programme (the champion of the Computer Checkers World Championship of 2002: summary of the championship ). It would be good to get indepen...

Re: It is white to play, what do you play here?

Hello: I also played 1.- b6+. The key is not allowing to crown a black pawn in b1 in the same move (i.e. next ply) than the white pawn in h8, because h8=Q controls a1 but not b1. i cant remember well and i didnt klick the vidio...but as far as i can remember the same theme works when the white king ...

Re: Velimir Ivic.

Hello: I let SF 14 analyse the position after 19.- ..., Rc8 for more than six hours, reaching depth 51/72 and more than 35000 MN. Analysis by SF 14 (x64 modern compile, NNUE enabled with the default net) with 4 threads and 1 GB of hash, running under Arena 2.0.1 GUI with the full set of 3, 4 and 5-m...

The checkmate in 7 was found at depth 58 in around 1070 kN:

There was a typo: 1070 MN and not 1070 kN, but still much fewer nodes searched. Disabling NNUE made a difference.

Re: Stockfish needs depth 199 to find the best move.

Hello Uri: I tried SF 14 with NNUE disabled with one thread to get deterministic results. Re: Fortress detection?

Hello Uri: I do not understand how 4-8 is a legal move in checkers. I know almost nothing about checkers but I know that there is a rule that if you can capture you have to do it so white has to play 15 capture 18 and 26 or 13 capture 17 and 26 or 15 capture 19 based on my knowledge Edit:Maybe it is...

Re: Fortress detection?

Hello Martin: Fortress detection is one of the Holy Grails of computer chess. Chess Programming Wiki and searches at TalkChess might help to see what other people do. I already see that Gerd was faster than me! KingsRow 1.19b also gives winning scores for red side with 8-man EGDB. You are right when...

Re: Why was GM Savic SO upset, do NOT understand?

Hello George: Why was GM Savic so Upset, do NOT understand, GM Pranav made a legal move, so what is the reason ? See if you can find the winning move with your engine with White, please do NOT use any endgame Tablebases. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k42-ypEhz8w Savic's upset after Ra7 (2:43 in th...

Hello: I found the basis for a shorter proof game by chance! The Kuwait Immortal (John Tromp's page). The Kuwait Immortal (Tim Krabbé's page). I took the position after 34.- bxa7+ and after some blindfold attempts I arrived to the position of the OP of this thread in 37 moves (20 moves less than the...
