Re: The 5men and 6men Syzygys challenge for the top 3 Engines.

I noticed that most of the testing are done with either 5men and 6men Syzygys, but have you noticed any game where the top engines has lost a single game if it does NOT use 6men Syzygys ? The challenge is if you can provide the fen where either Komodo Dragon or Stockfish 13 NNE can NOT find the cor...

Re: NNs seem to solve the Gusev Qxe5!! easily.

Just rechecked this Gusev immortal using latest SF13+. Was surprised to see latest SF dev, as of today May 01 2021, being able to find Qxe5 to be the best (together with Qa3) in less than 3 minutes on my 32-bit 11-year-old PC. Yes, Engine hashes was cleared before the run. 4q1kr/p6p/1prQPppB/4n3/4P3...

Re: A questionable position

6bn/5pPq/5PpB/5pPp/5K2/5B2/8/6k1 w - - 0 1 Can White win here? It's too diffcult for me(and my engines) to get the answer. If yes, I'll build a great puzzle around it. Looks interesting. Difficult to find a win though. But a N pair instead of the lone Bf3 seems to mate in less than 60 moves. 6bn/5p...

Music Learned by A.I. from specific band

Sorry this is not chess related. But I saw this news, where an A.I. was used to learn the music of specific bands. Then it creates its own version, with almost the same rythm of the original band. Already published was metallicAI, nirvanAI, red hat chilli peppers, led zeppelin. Many youtube vids wer...

Re: Tactical mistake by Stockfish (Grischuk-Ding at candidates)

While commenting a game from yesterday at candidates, Yannick Gozzoli pointed that 12.Nxe5 is a mistake because 12. Nxe5 Nxe5 13. Rxe5 Nf4!! 14. Nf3 Nxg2!! : [Event "FIDE Candidates 2020"] [Site "Yekaterinburg RUS"] [Date "2020.03.22"] [Round "5.2"] [White "Grischuk, Alexander"] [Black "Ding, Liren...

Re: Anti-Engine Puzzle

FairyGen says both BNN-K and NNB-K are general draws, although in the case of a royal Knight thereare some rather long mates. I cannot imagine it makes much difference whether the Knight is royal or not. However, that is on an otherwise empty board. And that is not what we have here. It is conceiva...

Pretty impressive. ok so your mate shows the following line: [Event "Computer chess game"] [Site "Talkchess"] [Date "2021.03.09"] [Round "?"] [White "SF"] [Black "SF"] [Result "*"] [BlackElo "2400"] [TimeControl "7200+10"] [SetUp "1"] [FEN "8/8/2k5/3N4/8/4N1p1/4Kprp/B5bn w - - 0 1"] [Termination "un...

Re: ProDeo 3.1 - The PESTO version

Already downloaded this engine a few days back. Thanks a lot for this new engine Ed! Interesting to note that there are still some new ideas being tried and tested. I'm think in the next MinimalChess version I will add suport for PSTs (because it's just such a huge strength boost) and I was thinking...

Test Position - wrong eval score

Very few engines can handle fortress assesment correctly, as already pointed out by other members here. below position was shown by an IM who posted this in youtube 8/7K/1R6/k2p3b/Ppp5/1p1P4/1PP5/8 w - - 0 1 Most engines got the correct line: Rb5+ Kxa4 Rxb4+ Kxb4 c3+ Kc5 d4+ Kd6 Kh6 Ke6 Kg5 but give...

So I got a bit of a free time and browsed latest TCEC games played last Jan 17, 2021 by the top 2 contenders at superfinal Lc0 and SF, [Event "TCEC S20 Superfinal"] [Site "?"] [Date ""] [Round "?"] [White "?"] [Black "?"] [Result "0.5-0.5"] [Termination "unterminated"] [PlyCount "87"] [WhiteType "E...
