Re: stockfish evaluates knight as more than rook

NN evaluations are highly non-linear anyway, so if anything is "stupid" it is expecting NNUE to behave like HCE where terms are additive
and piece values dominate.

2021.07.13 - 2021.07.14 - Note: Scorpio on default settings with TensorRT 7.2 Thanks! I am just glad that a tester can actually read install instructions and get Scorpio working without any help ! You actually went above and beyond, catching and fixing a bug in the install script, so I say you are ...

Re: Bug in install script of Scorpio

Thank you for pointing out the bug!
I recently changed from having separate directory for the dlls to putting them in the same directory as exe,
but forgot to change the directory EGBB has become invalid.

Re: Is Scorpio stronger than AlphaZero?

None of the engine's you mentioned come close to A0, because that is a real breakthrough. You can re-implement its algorithm and improve up on it and make it stronger than A0 like Stockfish/Leela is right now, but it never compares to A0 IMO. To venture where no has gone before is what matters the m...

Re: Are hybrid approaches stronger than pure nnue?

Most engines simply have way too inferior HCE that can not compete with NNUE. Even Stockfish's NNUE is 100 or so elo stronger now, so it makes sense for most to use pure NNUE. However, NNUE seems to have problems learning "scaling factors", such as for OCB and wrong-color bishop, so that part of HCE...

Re: Koivisto 5.0

Scorpio is only a top 10 engine if it uses a GPU. With CPU only, Scorpio is much weaker. that's completely irrelevant. I'm deeply disgusted with the current state of computer chess, so much hatred and nonsense is really something. especially noting the high number of trolls that hijacked this Koivi...

Re: Koivisto 5.0

Hand-crafted evaluation is now more like "Cave Mens evaluation" than "Real Mens evaluation" really? so how did Scorpio become a top 10 engine out of nowhere, did you find a big idea? :D oh yeah, you don't care about rating lists, right :D Did I say I don’t care about rating of my engine ? The point...

Re: Koivisto 5.0

Hand-crafted evaluation is now more like "Cave Mens evaluation" than "Real Mens evaluation" To be honest, even HCE not completely HCE anymore. Now, we make a table that gives bonus/malus for open lines, doubled pawns, etc, and we have Texel Tuning tune those. It's like a poor man's neural network, ...

Re: Koivisto 5.0

It is hypocritical to lecture others while doing the same thing as what they are doing . You spend half your post on your engine's release ranting about how other engines are un-original, how they ctrl+c/ctrl+v Stockfish code etc. You must have the most original engine in the universe with no code ...
