Re: Reshevsky does what most humans would do in this position

The fact of the matter in this position is that the Human way of playing it is better (even if the computers don't see it), even though the more complicated computer way still wins.

Re: Reshevsky does what most humans would do in this position

My first thought was (being Reshevsky) the answer would be...sink into a long think, take too much time and have to blitz out the finale...blundering or losing in time pressure. He had a fairly successful career, so even in time pressure he didn't blunder or lose on time very often (and the ...

Reshevsky does what most humans would do in this position

This position is completely lost for black, but the way that humans and computers go about finishing the game is different. The 9 year old Reshevsky simplifies the position to a "skin and bones" position and a winning endgame with 27.Rxf7!, whereas computers prefer to play 27.e6! or 27.Rc1. Of cours...

Stockfish "busts" another test position, maybe.

It looks like Stockfish has found a solution to a position that was thought to be a fortress a few years ago. It finds a different key move that it seems to think wins. Here is the position that was posted in this forum about 4 years ago where the key move was thought to be 1.Nxc7: 8/2p2kb1/np1p2p1/...

Re: Mate in 19

Of course Peter, I wasn't absolutely sure that 19 was the quickest, but that was the best I could do. Where is the position from? It was discussed here before: http://talkchess.com/forum3/viewtopic.php?p=856600#p856600 But no hint to the origin there neither, even if I didn't read the whole thread....

Will there be an exe of this update? :?:

Only this makes sense.
Only source code is not usable for me and many others. :(

Somebody posted this earlier in this thread in which they said there was an executable (or compile) of Crystal there:
