Re: Stockfish: Our lawsuit against ChessBase

...he didn’t care if ChessBase’s behavior was technically legal if it went against his conception of correct behavior. You can even almost ignore the "correctness" thing it just casts doubt about the decision makers most basic competence. If you rely on the work of foss developers and release a pro...

Re: New commercial engine Revenge 1.0

Yeah, except that SF-NNUE has so much strength that it could afford to take a few more risks without losing Elo.
Unfortunately, it doesn't 'know' or 'understand' that.

Remember, when they added contempt to classical SF, it played more aggressively AND gained strength.

Re: Gary Kasparov 58 Years old is no longer 2812 use your engine

I watched live as GK had Black vs MVL and he had White busted right out of the opening. He just lacked the technique to convert at this faster time control, which can easily induce blunders, spoiling a great position in just a few quick moves. Vachier-Lagrave is certainly up to date with current the...

Re: New commercial engine Revenge 1.0

Made no different to set Stockfish to 2250 Elo or to set Revenge to 2250 Elo. The question is more ... which can play the most interesting chess (human-view) with 1600, 1800, 2000 or 2200 Elo. OK, Stockfish have a great playing style also but the style from Pedone is differently to Stockfish. The c...

Does X45e really use MCTS? I don't see a UCI option for it.
It certainly looks impressive. :)

Re: Raubfisch X45e_nn_sl-bmi2 game (part of my test).

Hey Ruxy :) I'm curious, which NNUE net did you use with R-fish? Thanks! 8-) I don't know the legal status of this engine. But the latest version (X45e) plays extremely aggressively. Just a sample (Alekhine): [Event "NN Test113"] [Site "ISR 3"] [Date "2021.07.07"] [Round "3"] [White "Raubfisch X45e_...

Re: Meet Zahak's shiny logo

Thank you very much. The second game was a short game. Somehow Zahak decided not to find. I probably add contempt factor for casual games to be played with. So Zahak doesn't seek short draws Yeah, but it was a sharp draw that did not see coming (above my paygrade). If I were playing the black side ...

Re: Stockfish 14 release round the corner

From my point of view, I don't see any reason why CCRL would not test Stockfish 14. In fact the CCRL chess960 list already includes a version that uses an NNUE based on Lc0 games. Individual testers will make their own choice with this one I think. It is a bit of a minefield, of course you then ope...

Re: I declare that HCE is dead...

I can tell you CyberNezh has gotten many stylish wins against engines rated below 3000 CCRL (a few were posted here in this forum), while sticking with its trademark speculative and dubious sacs. Its strength is about 2800-2900, just about the same as the human world champ, or a little better. Nezh...

Re: I declare that HCE is dead...

I see no reason to believe that HCE and tunable parameters are necessarily the best or only way to achieve such goals. You could optimize a neural network for something else than pure results. A simple approach that would be interesting to try is to not just score wins as 1 and losses as 0 during t...
