Re: Stockfish: Our lawsuit against ChessBase

Yes, well they acknowledged that long ago and long before the lawsuit when they altered the online purchase very quickly to separate out the net from the executable. Much harder of course to alter a physical product. There is stock of that out with resellers whereas there is no stock of the online p...

Re: Stockfish: Our lawsuit against ChessBase

The violation can be asserted -- by Chessbase's own admission -- for at least some of their products. Where is the admission ? If you are referring to removing Houdini from sale - my option is that that is an admission of nothing, just a pragmatic response. Removing something from sale that probabl...

Re: Stockfish: Our lawsuit against ChessBase

You do understand that those pages were only updated AFTER getting legal notice from Stockfish, right? The explicit mentioning of Stockfish's GPLv3 is an attempt to remedy the violation. You know full and well the original page made no direct associations between Stockfish and FF2. An attempt to pl...

Re: Stockfish: Our lawsuit against ChessBase

ChessBase already conceded selling Houdini, and Houdini is still there. So the answer is no I suspect. And besides, Chessbase is not the only company selling Houdini 6. Goal posts moved immediately  Time for OpenBench to make a rating list. Moved by who ? Chessbase is the right entity to sue ...

Re: Stockfish: Our lawsuit against ChessBase

The proof is as formal as it gets in real life. Real life is that a court of law is the only authority that decides on matters of law. Not the court of talkchess or any other "court", Let the court of law decide on the legality of Houdini, and Fat Fritz, and any damages and remedies. I welcome this...

Re: Stockfish: Our lawsuit against ChessBase

Just curious, who defines that it is an illegal clone? Which authority? In what kind of process? Did you take Houdart to court? Did Team SF come up with a clone-planel? Srdja A court of law of course, and only a court of law. Which is why I'm happy to see this court case. But now that Chessbase - w...

ChessBase already conceded selling Houdini, and Houdini is still there. So the answer is no I suspect. Removing something from sale that probably nobody is buying anymore is probably not conceding anything. Just a pragmatic response. If I'm wrong and Chessbase have acknowledged in writing that Houd...

Re: Stockfish: Our lawsuit against ChessBase

Going to court should resolve this situation one way or another, so that can only be a good thing.
