Re: Is Carlsen improving with AlphaZero ?

Nonsense! Magnus has pushing his h pawn before Alpha Zero came out. As for his weird openings ... the guy likes to have fun with chess and why not ... if you are as good as he is and can get away with it! It is really incredible to see his skills in bullet ... he will readily go into a losing openin...

Re: Stockfish no longer has contempt
Carlsen does it all the time against might strong players...but you can have that kind of ego when you are that good
Yes it really is incredible what Carlsen will play and for fun and he doesn't really care who is on the other side. He played an online Lichess bullet tournam...

Re: Stockfish with new NNUE architecture and bigger net released

... You're right. This new try does not seem nearly so successful. Surely you can't be serious, unless you're defining "success" in some nonsensical way. I don't see how any rational person could come to your conclusion given the facts. Hopefully you're confused rather than arguing in bad faith. Th...

Re: Amazing Computer Board on Kickstarter

Looks interesting but what is the hardware for the chess engine? Whatever hardware it is, it's able to run SF which means it can destroy Carlsen or any human on max strength. So unless you are gonna use it for analysis hardware is totally irrelevant. Now that is interesting. Didn't realize that SF ...

Re: Rybka vs Fat Fritz controversies

I think for a while, everyone thought that chess engine progress will improve ... but it will improve mostly due to the improvement in hardware running bean counter engines. Rybka changed that thinking and it made clear that the software side of chess engines is where the major gain in ELO would com...

Re: Rybka vs Fat Fritz controversies

Totally different things. Vas is probably the most wronged person in computer chess and also is one of the star people that really pushed the limits to chess engine development at a time everyone thought stagnation was inevitable and chess engine strength was reaching its limits. I still remember th...

Re: Stockfish 13 merged on github

Great job guys! Thanks a lot for this amazing engine! One thing I always was wondering. Is it difficult to implement something in the engine install that would check your CPU and then automatically choose the best executable for your CPU? I guess if it was easy this would have been done before, but...
