Ignoring threads option, is it valid?

I saw this piece of code in an engine:

				if (uci_threads == 1 && uci_mcts == true)
					uci_threads = 2;
Now, is that really valid/honest? From a user's point of view, if I set 1 thread, I want the engine to use 1 thread, not 2.

We may push the threshold longer to save some engines, but the root of the problem is still there: some engines don't reply to the command ping/isready within a reasonable time. Yes, fully agree. There can be other reasons why an interface sends isready while the engine is supposed to be searching. BTW which interface is sending isready while the engine is searching? It is good to know its purpose. Banksia/BanksiaGUI do that! The purpose is to detect crash-stall when an engine does not quit...

I agree that the wording is completely contradictory. How I understand (or how I would use it) is in your #1 way when the engine is initializing (reading TBs, making the Hash, etc), which completely blocks the engine from doing any other thing wether you want it or not, and which by today's standard...
