I was on vacation having a great time on the Lake of the Ozarks catching massive catfish. When my Samsung 8 Plus battery expanded, and split my phone in half.

So I had to buy a new phone. My misfortune is your gain.

Here is the benchmark of the SD 865 from a Samsung S20 Ultra with Droidfish, and SF 11 from the starting position with 1 GB hash.

I tested a new Cpu for mobile phones.

The vivo iqoo z1 uses the new MediaTek chip dimensity 1000+

It’s almost as fast as a snapdragon 855+, so only 1 step behind the latest snapdragon cpus.

But of course it is cheaper.

Depending on the storage you pay 309 for the 6/128 version and 349 for the 8/128 version and 369 for the 8/256 g5 version.
It has stereo loudspeaker, triple camera with 48 MP main sensor and analog audio output.
The cpu can do 5G.

You can install google playstore on it. And you can make it work like a normal phone.

Stockfish 11 with 8 cores after 120 seconds gives 6.348.000 NPS.
Antutu benchmark was 523095.

You can also setup the Frequency of the screen to automatically, 60/90/144 hz !!
This is a good value for the money.
Especially when you consider that the companies try to sell snapdragon 765G middleclass mobile phones for 500-600 Euro im the moment while they sell snapdragon 865 phones for 800-1200 euro !!

So Mediatek and vivo is good in breaking this market into pieces with the new 7nm cpu.

I have here the "one-plus" seria (I am using since many years mobile devices from this company).

One Plus 8 with Droifish 1.82 on 8 cores 6.400k after 1. h3.
If the device running a longer time around 5.700k.

Not sure, not the expert for Snapdragon processors but after all I know the latest Snapdragon is inside.
Hardware is just fantastic but I like more the One Plus 7t for different reasons (camera is better for an example).
My wife have my One Plus 7t and will not switched back.



One Plus 8t will be the next ...
Made no sense to switched every half year the mobile device.
So my next will be One Plus 9t end of 2021.

It would be interesting to run industry standard benchmarks and see how these correlate with NPS with various chess programs. Some suggestions:

* Linpack. Long outdated software, but TOP500 still use it so that "fair" FLOPS comparisons can be made with the great supercomputers of old (your phone is likely to get a better score than any supercomputer over 30 years old)

* Geekbench. Seems to be the most widely used benchmark currently

* ML Bench (link). Measures how good your phone is at machine learning tasks. My phone (Galaxy 8) got a score of 86,406

OK but our stockfish benchmark is a specific benchmark. I doubt the industry benchmarks help us any better.
